Where I got it
If you haven’t already knew, I really quite like Too Faced products, for their packaging, the smell of their products and they actually work quite well for their price. They are not super cheap, but not crazy expensive. I get all my Too Faced products from Mecca Maxima and this one is NZD$55.
What I got
This is the Too Faced Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer (40g). This lightweight, cooling primer imparts a brightening peach tint that blurs imperfections, smooths skin and keeps makeup looking freshly-applied for up to 16 hours. The sweetly scented formula also works to control oil and shine for up to 12-hours offering a comfortable matte finish.
Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Propanediol, PVP, Sodium Polyacrylate Starch, Talc, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Lauroyl Lysine, Nylon 6/12, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Magnesium Stearate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aluminum Hydroxide, Mica, Stearic Acid, Fragrance/Parfum, Silica, Flavor/Aroma, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract/ Prunus Persica Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract/Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Benzyl Benzoate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77492, CI 77491).
How I find it
Another interesting volume of product, their Peach Perfect Foundation was also 40ml which is 10ml more than your usually foundation. This primer comes in a squeeze tube with an airless pump and a cap. It looks similar to the foundation, but it is shorter and wider.
One pump gives you a good amount of primer (below photo shoes half a pump) for the entire face. It looks very similar to the Benefit Porefessional primer with that pinky, peachy tone and that creamy texture it comes out.
Depending on the primer. I usually use a mattifying or an oil-controlling one on my t-zone only and apply either a hydrating one or blurring one to the rest of my face. Sometimes I just can’t be bothered and just use one primer all over my face.
The primer goes on smoothly thanks for the dimethicone in the formula (although not very high up in the inkey list), it does feel slightly cooling on the skin when you just apply it. The sensation doesn’t last very long though. It also feels quite moisturising without feeling heavy or greasy.
The primer doesn’t immediately turn your skin super matte and flat, but I think it helps to perfect the skin and blur out imperfections.
Overall
I have used this a good couple of times with different foundations: matte, dewy, natural finish, also sheer to medium coverage (I seldom wear full coverage, so I didn’t really think it was worth trying for me). I tried on half of my face and not on the other half but I honestly didn’t see a big difference, not immediately, not a few hours of wear. I’m a little disappointed but I did like how the primer blurred my skin and made my skin smooth for foundation application. I did use the Too Faced Peach Perfect mattifying powder to set everything and that did help my makeup last longer and look more flawless and smooth!
