Where I got it
So I was researching the Dior Show mascaras because I was wanting to try one, but I came across Nikkia Joy’s review for 5 good and 5 bad mascaras for hooded and oily eyelids and this is one of the holy grails she mentioned. So I decided to pop into a MAC store nearby and pick it up. This mascara was $48 and you can get MAC on the Farmers website now.

MAC Extended Play Perm Me Up Lash Mascara
How I find it
So for many years, I have been struggling to find a holy grail mascara until about 6 years ago? The Blinc mascara is the first of its kind – tubing mascara. They coat your lashes with this rubbery formula and removes with warm water like tubes. After that, I knew my lashes need a mascara that is removed by water, not even waterproof mascara gets the cut usually.
So after Blinc, I also found L’Oreal Telescopic mascara to be pretty amazing. This one is waterproof, but not water-removable, but it was absolutely budge-proof! After that, I found the Majolic Majorca mascaras which were really hard to get in NZ, but they lengthen, separate, holds curls, etc. Currently, I have been using Kevyn Aucoin The Curling Mascara or The Volumising Mascara exclusively. I have backups on these babies already!
With any mascara I use, I always curl my lashes and I curl them after my eye makeup and eyeliner is applied. I then put on a lash primer, and my #1 holy grail is the pmel Lash Essence Base. This stuff truly holds my curls up like no body’s business, I often use this for other mascaras that are not waterproof or would weigh my lashes down. After the base coat is still kinda tacky, I apply the mascara and wiggle the brush along my lashes. I use about 2 coats maximum.

Overall
So far I’ve used this mascara a number of ways – lashes curled with and without a primer, lashes not curled with and without a primer. I have also tried to layer the mascara up to 4 coats, and I’m not too mad at it. I think by around 3 coats is the most my lashes will take because it can look a little spidery. Otherwise, the formula is quite lengthening, not so much volumising
This mascara wears pretty well, I put it on at around 7am and around 12 noon, it hasn’t flaked one bit and there was only a tiny amount of melting to my under eye area. When I checked it again at around 4pm (busy day), it was still holding on pretty good. No excessive melting despite the running around I do. By the time I take my mascara off, there is a bit more melting because I have been cooking, but it was still looking awesome. Lashes still curled and no flaking at all.
Removal was super easy with cleansing oil or warm water. I used a cleansing oil or balm most of the time because I remove makeup and sunscreen anyway, so I bring the cleansing to my eye area too. I hardly just use water to remove mascara. It removes cleanly, but not like tubes.
