Where I got it
I actually decided to get this because I saw a dupe video by Nikkia Joy on YouTube and she said that this was a dupe for the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish foundation, and Maybelline happened to be on sale that weekend at Chemist Warehouse so I grabbed it. It was 30% off from $27.99, so it came down to $13.79. There were only 8 shade available at The Chemist Warehouse.
What I got
This is the Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Foundation SPF50 (120 Classic Ivory). Dream Urban Cover is a flawless-coverage protective makeup. How I find it
This claims to be full coverage with a natural finish. It does have a good SPF50, but I always apply sunscreen under makeup because you need a decent amount of sunscreen to protect your skin and usually I don’t use a generous amount of foundation. So I apply sunscreen, primer and then foundation.
I have been quite lazy lately and just applying foundation with my fingers. This formula seems to apply quite well with fingers or even a dense kabuki brush. It has a thicker liquid texture that will flow from the back of your hand but not run like a fluid. The texture feels quite thin and lightweight as well. It blends easily and doesn’t dry out fast on the skin.
By using fingers to blend, the foundation is more on the medium coverage side. If you use a brush, you would be able to achieve more coverage. The foundation gives a natural matte finish but not drying on the skin. My combination/oily skin feels great the entire time I have been wearing it. You do need to set this with a setting powder around the t-zone because it doesn’t specifically control oily, but my natural oils did come through, but it wasn’t that bad.
Overall
I have been enjoying this foundation and I actually quite like the minimal packaging. It’s in a squeeze tube with a screw cap you can stand it up. This type of packing is hygiene and easy to get the last drop.
Enough about the packaging, the formula of the foundation is really easy to apply without streaks and blotches. I don’t really have dry areas lately so I can’t really comment for drier skin types. I do have an oily t-zone and this doesn’t really do much for it. It mixes quite ok with my natural oils coming through as it doesn’t really separate badly.
I do set the foundation with a translucent setting powder because of my skin type, I have yet to find a foundation I don’t need to powder. I actually don’t like the super matte look, and I prefer sheer/medium coverage than full coverage. Therefore I like to lightly powder for setting everything rather than make everything matte.
