Where I got it
Earlier in May, Mecca finally opened its store in Botany Town Centre. This is awesome, now that I don’t need to drive to Sylvia Park anymore, but it’s going to break my credit card soon. They were doing gift with purchase over $85 on the opening day so I decided to pick this up for $89. Expensive for a face mask I know, but I have always wanted to try something form Summer Friday’s, so this is a great opportunity. In due course, I would like to try their Overtime Mask and their Jetlag Mask as well.
What I got
This is theĀ Summer Fridays R+R Mask. For petal-soft skin, smooth out rough days with this spa-worthy replenishing Mask, featuring delicately ground wild rose powder to whisk away dead skin cells that just can’t take a hint. Next, a dream team of antioxidant-rich oils – including sargasso, safflower, sesame, avocado and grape seed – steel skin in luxe moisture, nourishing fatty acids and ani-inflammatory healing. No phthalates, surfactants, petrolatums, BHT, BHA, or silicones
How I find it
This mask is so Instagrammable – it has a clear base with fragments of rose petals in it. The pink and yellow petals suspended in the clear gel-like base smells and feels amazing on the skin, such a treat to the senses!
So after I wash my face (double clean if in the evening), I pay dry my skin and use a generous amount of this mask all over my skin. Starting with gentle massage in circular motion, the granules in the mask helps to exfoliate the skin, but use with a light hand because the granules do feel quite abrasive. I like to leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with a soft washcloth or a small sponge pad.
There will be a bit of residue on the skin and it will feel a little bit like oil on your skin. If you don’t like that feeling, I don’t think this mask is for you because you are supposed to leave the remaining oil on to nourish your skin and give you that amazing glow. It’s not crazy oily, and it doesn’t feel sticky at all. It just gives you that feeling like you have applied a hydrating serum or a light lotion.
I will then follow with a light moisturiser for my combo-oily skin and my skin will be happy. I don’t need any heavy creams after this and probably not layering on my serums and essences afterwards because this mask leaves my skin feeling hydrated and moisturised.
Overall
This mask is really nice to use once in a while, maybe once a fortnight if your skin is combination. It can be used as a specialty treatment because it’s also very pampering to use. The scent is beautiful and the nourished feeling on the skin is really luxurious. The granules don’t really melt so don’t waste your time to scrub it into your skin. I use really really gentle motion and pressure, almost like gliding the mask around my face so that I’m not scratching my skin.
