Where I got it
While you can find these sheet masks pretty much everywhere like Farmers, pharmacies and supermarkets, I got these from the Chemist Warehouse because they were on special – 2 for $8! They are usually $6 each and when compared to the current sheet mask prices, they are actually in the average price range. However, I am used to Korean sheet masks prices because they can easily be $2/$3 per sheet when you get it from a pack of 5 or 10.
What I got
These are the Garnier Hydra Bomb and Pure Charcoal Tissue masks in various versions. They have been out for a while now, but they recently released new formulas or versions however you call it.
How I find it
Hydra Bomb Ultra Hydrating Rejuvenating Mask. Intensely rehydrates skin, boosts skin’s radiance, evens skin’s complexion. With pomegranate extract, hyaluronic acid and hydrating serum.
There is plenty of serum in the pack and the tissue mask does have a blue plastic back sheet so that the mask sheet doesn’t stick to itself and makes it hard to spread open. The mask itself is a great size, not too big and not too small. The eye area was done pretty well and so the opening is not too small.
After cleansing, I just pop one of these on, then I blow dry my hair and that usually takes about 10 minutes. After that, I sit around for a bit and wait for another 5 minutes and remove. You can definitely put this on for another 10 minutes or so because it is so soaked with the product that it will take a long time to dry out. Do not wear it overnight though!
My skin feels hydrated and supple, no dry feeling in my skin at all, and the next after that, my makeup goes on easily and no dry patches or dry lines to be seen.
Hydra Bomb Ultra Hydrating Rebalancing Mask. Intensely rehydrates skin, purifies and mattifies skin, visibly reduces pores and imperfections. With green tea, hyaluronic acid and hydrating serum.
This is a balancing mask with the same hyaluronic acid and hydrating serum. I can obviously feel the hydrating effects, but I’m not sure about the balancing and purifying effects. Definitely not the mattifying effects. I would actually go for a cleansing mask for some of the effects this mask claims to do.
Pure Charcoal Ultra Hydrating Pore Refining Mask. Enriched with Black Algae, LHA and hyaluronic acid for skin with visible pores.
This one with black algae and charcoal is black in colour but the essence is clear. It has the same hyaluronic acid serum in the ingredients as all the other tissue masks I got from Garnier.
After using the mask, I do feel my skin is intensely hydrated and supple. Smooth to the touch and no redness at all. I do believe that I won’t be able to see any improvements in pore size or pore clarifying after one use so I’m not going to comment on that.
Pure Charcoal Ultra Hydrating Mattifying Mask. Enriched with Black Tea, LHA and hyaluronic acid for oily to combination skin.
I usually doubt that sheet masks are clarifying or mattifying because of the way they are usually – full of essence. I often use clay masks or acid peels for clarifying or detoxifying purposes. However, I do believe that with these hydrating sheet masks, they are concentrating to the root of the problem for most oily or combination skin -dehydration.
This mask surely is very hydrating and my skin does feel supple and dewy after using it. I’m not sure how active the charcoal but I definitely did not feel that my skin is mattified. At most, it would be hydrated and brightened.
Hydra Bomb Ultra Hydrating, Smoothing and Replumping. With Grape Seed Extract and hyaluronic acid for first signs of ageing.
The packaging of this one and the next one is slightly different and it looks like these are new versions from the ones above. Instead of ultra-hydrating, these are super hydrating (what’s the difference anyway).
Hydra Bomb Night Super Hydrating and Repairing. With Deep Sea Water, Cornflower and hyaluronic acid for tired and sensitive skin.
This one is also a new version and this is specific for night use. I suppose it’s more intense, but it does sound more gimmicky. Unless you are able to use this before bed, peel it off and then leave the serum on your skin overnight.
The mask sheet is the same as the ultra hydrating ones and I was expecting a thicker sheet, but it does contain slightly more product in here (32g, compared to 28g for the others). You can easily use this for up to 30 minutes because it is so full of essence. My skin was left feeling super hydrated, plump and bright.
Overall
Not to my surprise, I wasn’t really able to see or feel any particular differences between the different formulas, especially with single-use, but my skin did benefit from the immediate hydration and brightening. My skin felt supple and brightened immediately after using the sheet masks and overnight, my skin felt soft and moisturised. I have experienced zero irritations and breakouts or allergic reactions so I do intend to get more when they are on sale.
