Where I got it
I’ve been following Chloe Morello for a long time on IG and YouTube, and she is one of the founders of the brand Face Halo, but I was never really interested in this product because I simply love my cleansing oils and balms.
Out fo nowhere, while I was shopping online for Black Friday deals, I put this in my cart and accident checked it out! These were $33 for a pack of 3. I put it in my cart because I thought $33 for 3 was quite a good price for something that you can use over and over again, it’s more sustainable and can potentially save some money.
What I got
These are the Face Halo Pro 3-pack. A reusable microfiber makeup remover that wipes away even heavy makeup using only water. Make light work of heavy makeup with Face Halo PRO. This reusable microfiber pad easily removes makeup with only water, replacing up to 500 traditional makeup wipes. Designed for professional makeup artists, Face Halo PRO features chic black fibres that always look fresh. Lasts for up to 200 washes. 9.5cm diameter.
How I find it
These are actually smaller than I had imagined, but they always say it’s better when it’s smaller so you can get into tighter areas easily, but with a larger surface area, I think would cover the entire face better. However, you can use this on both sides so that’s alright I guess.
Before using this for the first time, I thoroughly rinsed it and you can pop it in the washing machine if you want. Before using it, make sure the cloth is damp, it can be quite damp actually. Then you just start wiping it across your face to remove makeup. You don’t need to use any product!
So, from a users point of view, it didn’t really remove all of my makeup around my eyes – eyeshadow and mascara. I tried a few swipes with a wetter cloth, etc. my pinky-purple eyeshadow is still going strong. My mascara isn’t going anywhere too. But fair enough, I was using a tubing mascara so it will take a bit of warm water and a few tries to truly get them off. It managed to remove at least 90% of my light coverage foundation, blush and highlighter off.
Then I just washed my face with facial cleanser and I used micellar water all over to check if all my makeup is gone. The cotton pad did get some makeup residue from my eyes and some foundation around my hairline.
Overall
For makeup removal without any products, the Face Halo is pretty cool IMO. I used both sides of the cloth to remove my entire face of makeup and I did a couple of quick rinses between swipes so I don’t wipe foundation back onto my face. I had a couple of tries after my first go and kind of got used to it. I probably wouldn’t depend on using this to remove my face makeup every day, especially on days when I use full coverage or long-wearing foundation. I would also use an oil-based eye makeup remover for waterproof eyeliners and mascaras. Also to avoid rubbing too much around my eye area.
This is also quite a good gentle exfoliator when you wash your face. If you rinse it well after use, you can probably pop it in the machine once a week or 2 weeks? It’s pretty good when you need to go travelling.
I actually bought the original Makeup Eraser a while ago as well and I haven’t tried it yet. I might give that a go as well and do a comparison. I might give one for my sister to try and see if she likes it. Have you tried any of these makeup removing cloths? What did you think?
