Where I got it
In the first week of September, I received an email from L’Occitane that they have launched new cleansers – 6 products in total. There was 1 cleansing oil, a bi-phase eye and lip makeup remover, a micellar water, cleansing gel, makeup removing milk and a foaming cleanser. The store manager who served me told me that they will be phasing out all the existing cleansers in all ranges and these will be the new cleansers to match the suitable skin types.
I personally wanted to try the cleansing oil and to my pleasant surprise, they were all $39 each! And as a new launch, they had a limited time offer where you buy one of the new cleansers and a moisturiser from any range, and you will get the full-size eye and lip makeup remover for free (worth $39).
What I got
This is a 200ml bottle of the new L’Occitane Oil to Milk Facial Makeup Remover. Ideal for all skin types this gentle make-up remover is infused with anti-ageing immortelle and soothing calendula. Infused with anti-ageing immortelle and soothing calendula flowers from the south of France, this pH friendly make-up remover leaves skin feeling cleansed, smoother, energised and purified from daily urban grime.
When it comes into contact with water it transforms from a silky smooth oil into a milky emulsion that is gentle on the skin but tough on make-up and impurities. Immediately, skin feels fresh and the complexion is clean and clear. Day after day, skin becomes more supple and soft. Non-comedogenic. Tolerance tested under dermatological and ophthalmologicalsupervision. Made in France.
Ingredients: Helainthus Annuus (sunflower) seed oil, PEG-40 sorbitan peroleate, isopropyl isostearate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, coco-caprylate/caprate, parfum/fragrance, helichrysum italicum extract, calendula officinalis flower extract, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, hippophae rhamnoides fruit oil, tocopherol.
How I find it
First of all, let’s adore the packaging! The clear plastic bottle with a pump makes it super convenient for an oil product. The oil has a golden hue and it looks almost sparkling! It is already a visual pleasure!
So if you do not already know how to use a cleansing oil, you need to use it with dry hands and face. It’s not necessary to remove any makeup prior to a cleansing oil as this will be your first step of the double cleanse. You can use an eye and lip makeup remover prior to or after, but I prefer prior because you can wash away any residue from the remover afterwards.
Work the oil into the skin and makeup, gently massage it all over your face, neck and anywhere you applied sunscreen or makeup. Then you use a small amount of water with your fingertips and emulsify he oil to really loosen up the makeup and dirt and grime. After a bit of massaging, rinse everything off and use a facial cleanser as the second part of your double cleanse.
You will find that after double cleansing, the skin is clean from any makeup or diet even if you use a cotton pad with toner. The cleansing oil itself doesn’t leave a residue or greasy film on the skin.
Overall
I actually didn’t get to use this cleansing oil until December because I had another cleansing balm I wanted to use which lasted me a good 2 months. This cleansing oil is quite fluid in texture and has a rather strong scent of immortelle which is the similar smell of L’Occitane’s immortelle range. It’s not an unpleasant scent, but it is quite strong. However, it will fade as soon as you rinse it off.
I like how effective it is for removing all my makeup and how easy it is to spread. It is so easy to remove without leaving my skin greasy and not squeaky at all. This also looks really pretty on my vanity – the clear bottle and the golden hue. Pump design as well makes this cleansing ritual super easy and no fuss.
