Where I got it
I have been wanting to try a Dior lipstick or liquid lipstick, because I have seen so many youtubers use their lipsticks and swear by them. I wanted to try for myself but that do come at high cost at $63 a pop so I didn’t run, I walked.
I picked mine up from the Dior counter in Farmers, there is this lady Heather, she is probably is her early 50s and she is such a lovely person. She is helpful and always has a genuine smile on her face. I met her about a year ago at the Dior facial event they hold not very often (they are having another one in March, should I go?). I picked up some skincare and I really loved their Super Serum.
Anyway, let’s get back to the review of the liquid lip.
What I got
This is the Dior Beauty Ultra Care Liquid in shade 808 Caress (lychee pink). Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid is the 1st Dior lipstick infused with flower oil, delivering ultra care and 12-hour* wear. Inspired by the flowers so dear to the House of Dior, it comes in a range of soft colours with matte and satiny finishes.
Its micro-flocked applicator in the shape of a petal delivers soft and precise application on the lips. At the heart of the Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid formula, natural-origin camelina and sweet almond oils combined with shea butter deeply nourish and moisturize the lips. Formulated without wax, Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid lipstick boasts a light and creamy texture that feels soft on the lips.
How I find it
First of all, the packaging is just gorgeous. It has that signature CD logo at the top of the cap, the quilted grid at the silver band in the body of the tube. The frosted tube adds sophistication and that red lacquer just adds class.
Screw the lid off and you have a pointed tip applicator with a bit of a cupping shape to the applicator where the product sits. Everywhere else, I don’t get excess product around the rim and the back of the applicator so it’s really mess-free. There is a floral scent which seems quite strong out of the tube, once you apply and let it settle, the smell fades entirely.
The formula is really mousse-like and feels amazingly lightweight. It goes on super creamy and moisturising, it gradually dries down velvet-like, but feels so smooth! I don’t see any streaks and this shade is perfect for my lips for everyday use.
Overall
I really enjoy this liquid lip, from its overall experience. The packaging, the texture, the colour, the wear and comfort level. It is truely something I would wear on a daily basis. I would say that there are some dupes or similar ones out there and that would be the ColourPop Lux Liquid Lip (formula is sooooo good!), also the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink and the MAC Matte Lip Mousse. They all have that velvety, creamy texture that dries down to a comfortable matte while your lips still feels soft and not crackling.
This collection also comes in a lipstick formula which provides a more natural sheen to the lips and is probably much preferred by people with dry and flaky lips. I personally think that would wear off quite easily and probably rub off easily too which I will have to reapply and be mindful of lipstick on my face.
Anyway, I would love to get more shades and they do focus of pinks and reds so I might try something else from their makeup range. Do you use Dior makeup? What is your must have item?
