Where I got it
I have seen this skincare box subscription for at least a year now, and I saw it from a fellow skincare addict on IG. I thought £70 a month was quite expensive for a subscription service, but when this edit came along, I decided to give it a go.
They do monthly, bi-monthly, 3, 6 and 12 months subscriptions, that means you can pay for it:
- Monthly – £70 per box.
- Bi-monthly – £70 per box, just charging once every 2 months.
- 3 monthly – £205.50 for a total of 3 boxes, which makes it £68.50 per box.
- 6 monthly – £411 for a total of 6 boxes, which makes it £68.50 per box.
- 12 monthly – £822 for a total of 12 boxes, which works out to be £68.50 per box as well.
So, getting 3, 6 or 12 monthly is basically the same. However, they do have some specials with getting 3, 6 or 12-month subscriptions from time to time, and you get free full-size products. However there are always limitations, so check their website for current promotions and offers.
After selecting your subscription period, you will be asked to do a quick survey on your skin type, skin concerns, skin tone, hair type, etc. They kind of curate it suitable for you in case they have a foundation or a concealer or an illuminator in the box, etc. The boxes will always contain 4-5 full/deluxe-sized products, so none of that tiny little 5ml sample bottles which you get from gift with purchases. You get to try the products out for a good go.
I ordered my first box at the beginning of the month, maybe 1st March, and they usually ship within the first 7 days of the month so I received an email on the 4th March telling me the box has been shipped out and would reach me in around 5-7 days from the UK. I received my box on 10th March. Total charge to my bank account was NZD$146.13 at the current exchange rate.

How I find it
Sunday Riley Blue Moon Clean-Rinse Cleansing Balm (50ml). A Hydrating balm that removes makeup and impurities with sugar-based cleanser, while calming and soothing dry skin. This luscious, soft blue cleansing balm easily removes impurities and makeup (even stubborn eye makeup) using gentle sugar-based cleansers to leave skin thoroughly clean, comfortable, hydrated, and glowing. Therapeutic essential oils of Blue Tansy and German chamomile help to calm the look of irritated, dry, flaky skin while tangerine oil helps improve clarity. With a softening base of organic cocoa, moringa butters, and enriched with essential oils of vanilla and sweet orange to relax the mind and create a sense of balance, this melting cleansing balm gives skin a tranquil, pure, and healthy cleanse.
I have tried Sunday Riley before and I actually quite like their Good Genes and Luna. I have wanted to try their Blue Moon cleansing balm because the packaging is so pretty and I love cleansing oils and balms. The balm has a hint of icy blue and it looks really calming. I use a little plastic spatula to pick up the product and the massage onto dry skin to work the makeup loose. The texture felt a little grainy with tiny little soft beads, almost like waxy beads that melts down with warmth and you massage. Emulsify with a little bit of water (this is important) and then massage a little bit more and rinse off. This balm is a rinse off one so you don’t need the help of a washcloth.
Venn Age Reversing All in One Concentrate (20ml). Age-Reversing All-In-One Concentrate is an intensely luxurious, multi-correctional cream, scientifically formulated with VENN’s proprietary Concentric Technology™ using potent concentrations of naturally-derived Antioxidants and high-performance Peptides to deeply hydrate and effectively improve the skin’s complexion in a single step. 89.7% of this supercharged, all-in-one formula is efficacy-driven bioactive, including our patented water-solubilized Compound K, the main metabolite and a key anti-aging active component of Panax Ginseng. Hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic. Formulated for all skin types. Cruelty-free. Free of fragrance, parabens, silicone, phthalates, mineral oil, sulphates and colour.
Venn is actually a brand that I was quite interested as well after seeing a couple of rave reviews by Gillian from Growintoyourglow on IG. Her posts on the Mintd boxes was what highly influenced me to subscribe! I had quick research on this brand and they are based around clean, clinical and efficient skincare. They provide comprehesive skincare for modern lifestyle with over 20 years of skincare research and innovation from South Korea. The serum is hydrating and lightweight but it still provides a nice amount of moisture to the skin.
Farmacy Beauty Dew It All Total Eye Cream (15ml). A hydrating eye cream that soothes and nourishes the eye area to help minimize signs of stress and fatigue.
Another brand that I have seen for a long time, interested but never got around to try it. I first heard of the brand from Tati Westbrook on YT and it was their Honey Mask. Then their Honeymoon Glow was also a big hit. Even though this is not either of them, I am still quite interested. This eye cream is quite light, not like watery thin, but it feels hydrating and soothing.
Votary Natural Lip Oil – Almond and Green Mandarin (8ml). Intense nutrition for your lips – a 100% natural lip oil that’s good enough to eat. Votary Natural Lip Oil glides onto lips giving a gorgeous shine. It conditions and plumps your lips without being sticky. The handy wand applicator allows for convenient touch-ups throughout the day. Applying Votary Natural Lip Oil will beautifully restore gloss and comfort to your bare lips or a subtle sheen when applied on top of lipstick. As well as adding sheen, African watermelon, passionflower, jojoba and sweet almond oils work to nourish and soothe the lips, boosting moisture levels, naturally
Votary has only been on my radar recently because they do a lot of oils and I don’t use facial oil every day or every night for that matter. So I am quite glad that this is a lip oil. It is clear and has a nice mandarin/cirtrus scent that is not too overpowering. It is a bit of a thick liquid, more like a oil-gel than a very fluid oil. It coats the lips like a lipgloss and it’s got quite a good staying power. I was a little worried that it will feel too much like a sticky lip gloss, but it eventually gets absorbed into the lips and doesn’t leave like a film to the lips and get crusty around the inner edges of the lips (if you know, you know).
Overall
Overall, a very impressive skincare box, I have had beauty boxes before, probably over 7 years ago and they were from New Zealand and they did sample sized products which is good for people who want to pay less and be able to try things out before they buy, but the brands were quite boring and uninteresting. When I came across Mintd, I initially thought it was way too expensive, but it actually works out very good value for money if you intend to try some of these brands out already. They are decent sized products if no full sized and they curate these boxes with amazing, well-know brands that people have raving reviews as well.
I will continue for another few months and see what the other boxes are like. Hopefully they continue to wow me with the products and value! Currently, we (New Zealand) is going under nationwide lockdown, and only the essentials will be delivered via courier or post, so I probably won’t be able to see the April box come through until after the lockdown period is over (expected to be 4 weeks, but it depends on how the situation plays out). I’m not too fussy about the boxes, I just want everyone to be safe and be healthy and let’s all unite against this Covid-19 virus! Have a lovely day.
