Where I got it
I picked this up from Meccabeauty.co.nz while I was browsing on the internet for a bit of online shopping therapy. We are in week 2 of the Covid19 lockdown and even though I am blessed with a nice house with plenty of space for the kids to move around, sufficient food supply, no worries about rental or mortgage and I still have my job, but there are other factors that affect my mood. Feelings of uncertainty and knowing that things are never going to be the same again, makes me a little sad. Anyway, I feel like I am explaining about this situation and justifying my sharing of my online purchase in every post because I feel like I need to.
Anyway, I picked this one up for $34 when I picked up a couple of other products. I ordered this on 31st March and it was delivered on 2nd April (during the Covid19 lockdown).

How I find it
For some unknow reasons, I have been having the worse hormonal breakouts around my chin and jaw area ever since the lockdown. I wore less makeup and focused on skincare, I used AHA and BHA peels every night but I just can’t seem to get rid of all these small, under the skin bumps and whiteheads. They are extremely frustrating and I also get a couple of big ones as well. I actually ran out of spot treatments for a while and I have not replenished my stock so when I saw this on the Mecca website, I decided to give it a try.
I usually go for a salicylic acid spot treatment rather than a hydrogen peroxide spot treatment because they seem to cause more dryness and sun sensitivity compared to the BHA ones. They are also less obvious on the skin and appears to melt in easier. I often use this after toner and essence and I would use this sparingly aroun dmy jaw area. I wait about 30 seconds for it to dry and then I would apply a hydrating serum, an anti-ageing serum and then follow with a moisturiser and SPF. I use this in the AM and I would use an AHA in the PM.
Overall
This spot treatment is quite fluid and it has this herbal, medicinal scent which I really enjoy. I thought it would be more of a gel texture, but it is quite thin and it kind of leaves a film, but not a tacky type. After about 30 seconds, I am able to apply other products on top without causing the spot treatment to move or peel or bunch up. However, I would say that this spot treatment might be better with a specific type of pimple, maybe those with white heads but not cystic pimples that are those painful, under the skin ones. They also don’t treat blackheads and millia so I am probably using the wrong product for my skin. It does contain salicylic acid which will assist in exfolating the area, but it’s not strong enough to dry out the spot. I would probably recommend this to something with the occassional spot that is not cystic.
