Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Fusion

Where I got it

I always pick up my Chanel makeup from Farmers because that is the only place I can get them from. I got this on the Farmers Beauty Week for $62 and collected double points! Woohoo! This is my second Chanel lipstick because the first one wowed me so much! The first one I got is the Rouge Allure Ink which has a creamier formula and more of a moisturising effect. I wasn’t really sure how different this was to the original Ink, but this is one of two liquid lipsticks from their spring/summer 2020 range so I picked up the shade that I though would suit me most and hope for the best.

Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Fusion

What I got

This is the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Fusion in 830 Fleur De Lotus. ROUGE ALLURE INK FUSION. A second-skin liquid lip colour with impeccable hold. A unique and extremely fine texture for an infallible makeup result: waterproof and ultra wear. A range of intensely matte shades that glide on easily with an exclusive applicator designed for precise, generous and even application. An ultra-fine, melt-away and glide-on texture ensured by a waterproof formula composed of natural-origin ingredients, volatile solvents (second-skin effect), non-volatile oils (comfort), highly concentrated fine pigments (intense colours), polymers (ultra wear) and silica microbeads (matte finish).

How I find it

II am obsessed with their rouge allure in this type of packaging! The frosted glass tube and the matte black cap, it’s simple and elegant. This one here is part of their spring/summer 2019/2020 collection in NZ and there is another brighter pinky shade in the range, but I didn’t get because it was way too bright for my skin tone. The Fleur De Lotus was a vibrant coral-red that looks uplifting to my light/medium skintone. I have yellow undertone so I cannot wear something that is too pinky, otherwise I look really yellow. I also have pigmented lips so I need to wear something that is at least the same deepness of my lips to not look washed out.

Chanel Rouge Allure

This formula for this one here is quite different to the Rouge Allure Ink that I got a few months ago. This one is super lightweight and dries down pretty fast. My lips don’t feel overly dry, and it doesn’t look or feel flakey. However, it does wear off after drinking and eating, so reapplying will be required during the day and I really don’t like to reapply matte liquid lipsticks over existing ones. I usually will remove all of the remaining product with makeup remover if I can get access to any, otherwise, I just use a thick layer of lip balm or lip oil and dab it all over my lips with fingertips and then rub it off with tissue paper. The lip balm kind of acts like a makeup remover to gently ease the product off.

Overall

Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Fusion in 830 Fleur De Lotus

After wearing this a couple of times, I initially thought I prefer the original Rouge Allure Ink over this Ink Fusion a heck of a lot, but after wearing it a couple of times, I start to like it more and more. It is more long-wearing and if you don’t move your lips too much or drink and eat a lot, the lipstick looks great and the stain is really pretty. If you prefer the creamy texture and the natural finish, you might prefer the original Rouge Allure Ink instead of this one. They both require reapplication if you wear it for a long time and if you do eat and drink. The Ink Fusion is more fussy when you need to reapply, but the Rouge Allure Ink does rub off more due to its creamy finish.

Therefore, there are pros and cons to both of these, so I would say go for the Ink if you have drier lips and go for the Ink Fusion if your lips are OK and you want that weightless feeling. There are heaps of other brands that do great liquid lipsticks like Dior, I love their Ultra Care Liquid which is a lovely creamy liquid lipstick with a beautiful stain that feels weightless on the lips.
