Where I got it
So before the Covid19 lockdown in New Zealand started in late March, I made a couple of trips to Farmers to take advantage of the Double Points offer for brands including Chanel and Dior. I managed to rack up a good amount of gift vouchers but I can only spend them in-store. So I decided to pick up some Chanel products as well as a couple from Bobbi Brown and Estée Lauder. I have yet to try any blush or highlighter products from Chanel so I picked up one each (I will review the blush in another post). This highlighter is $98 and it comes in other shades from the Chanel website, but at the Chanel counter in Farmers, the only other shade is Ivory Gold.
What I got
This is the Chanel Poudre Lumière Highlighting Powder in 20 Warm Gold (8.5g). An illuminating face powder captures and reflects light to leave a sheer, radiant finish. In shimmering golden shades, with ivory, bronze and rose tints. The handbag-friendly compact offers convenient touch-ups and includes a deluxe brush applicator.
Ingredients: CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE | CETEARYL ETHYLHEXANOATE | C12-20 ACID PEG-8 ESTER | HDI/TRIMETHYLOL HEXYLLACTONE CROSSPOLYMER | SQUALANE | GLYCERIN | CAPRYLYL GLYCOL | POLYSORBATE 80 | ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN | 1,2-HEXANEDIOL | TIN OXIDE | CALCIUM CHLORIDE | CHONDRUS CRISPUS EXTRACT | XANTHAN GUM | PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRA-DI-T-BUTYL HYDROXYHYDROCINNAMATE | SILICA | DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE | SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE | [+ / – (MAY CONTAIN) | CI 77007 (ULTRAMARINES) | CI 77491, | CI 77492, | CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES) | CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE) | MICA] | IL15A-II
How I find it
I picked up this one because this one has more a golden tone to it and the other one has a slightly pinky tone. I figured this one is more forgiving on my yellow-undertone skin. The highlighter compact looks exactly like the blush compact but bigger. It has the white CC logo on a black background and it comes with a slightly curved, round fan brush and a protective plastic cover over the product. The highlighter has the word CHANEL embossed on it and the formula is unbelieveably smooth and fine.
I tried using the brush provided to apply the highlighter, and because it has a flat side, it applies the highlighter directly to the cheekbone area. However, the brush bristles seem a little rough and I acutally prefer a more pin-pointed fluffy brush to apply highlighter. The golden undertone highlighter is so soft and natural on the skin and the super fine texture doesn’t accentuate my pores or imperfections on the skin.
Overall
This highlighter has 8.5g which will last me quite a long time and each time I use it, I hardly make a mark on the surface. I am very tempted to get the other shade because the texture and finish of this highlight is really pretty. It isn’t something that will bring a bright pop on your cheekbones, but it will achieve a nice natural glow on the skin. This shade will work for medium skin tones very well, but if you are quite fair, you might want to try the lighter shade.
