Mintd box – Wellness Edit – April 2020

Where I got it

This is actually my second Mintd box and it is a monthly subscription type service that is curated each month with a theme. These are around £70 each month and just a tad cheaper if you go for a 3/6/12 month subscription. I was thoroughly impressed and happy with my first box (March – Clean Skincare edit), in terms of how amazing the value for money is, the type of products, the number of products and the brands. So far, the previous box and this box contains brands and products that I have never used before. Amidst the Covid19 pandemic, New Zealand went on a nationwide lockdown and the postal service will only be delivering essential products, and international parcels may take much longer to be delivered. The Mintd boxes are usually dispatched (from the UK) around the 7th of each month. Last month I received my box in around 6 days. The total charge to my bank account was NZD164.23 at the current exchange rate.

**UPDATE – this box was sent out early April which is about the second week of the 4-week lockdown in New Zealand. We have ceased a majority of international parcels that are deemed non-essential and to make matters worse, I forgot to redirect my parcels to my home address because I always get my online shopping shipped to my work address. I managed to get this box on 18th May.

Unwind with The Wellness Edit this month.  As we continue to spend more time at home, it is important that we ensure that our physical, emotional, and mental health take centre stage. MINTD has curated the wellness edit with holistic health in mind; combining beautifully soothing, relaxing, and hydrating ingredients to turn your personal space into your very own spa.

How I find it

Su-Man Purifying Cleansing Gel Oil (125ml, RRP£38.00). This dreamy, innovative hybrid oil and water-based gel deliver a deep yet gentle residue-free cleanse, smoothing away all traces of makeup and impurities – even stubborn waterproof mascara – while preserving the skin’s delicate balance. The supercharged combination of wintergreen, dragon’s blood extract, and rosehip oil purifies, nurtures, and reinforces the complexion’s natural defense against the environment, leaving impeccably clear pores and a feeling of comfortable hydration. Rinse off with warm water to reveal luminously supple skin.

Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Water (Aqua), Sucrose Laurate, Sucrose Palmitate, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Linoleic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Chlorphenesin, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Extract, Propanediol, Tocopherol, Linalool, Sodium Hyaluronate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Benzyl Salicylate, Bixa Orellana Seed Extract, Eugenol, Limonene, Croton Lechleri Resin Powder Extract, Linolenic Acid, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract.

Su-Man Purifying Cleansing Gel Oil

This is a first step of my double cleanse and I always use either an oil-cleanser or a balm cleanser. This one here is an oil cleanser with a gel kind of texture and it is squeezed out from a tube. I use about a size of a macadamia nut size of this gel oil to remove my makeup in the evening. I massage it all over my face while it is still dry and then work the makeup off gently. I even use this on my eye makeup and then I emulsify this with a little bit of water to loosen up the oil and then rinse off.

Su-Man Purifying Cleansing Gel Oil

Avant Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment (50ml, RRP£68.00). Wake up to youthful-looking skin with Avant Skincare Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment. The antioxidant-rich formula contains noticeable anti-aging properties to restore health and life to your complexion. Infused with Vitamins A and E, Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil, the night cream restores moisture and plumps the skin layer to help lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, Polyacrylamide forms a barrier against harmful UV rays, leaving you with a smoother, brighter-looking visage.

Ingredients: Aqua (water), butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, c12-14 isoparaffin, disodium EDTA, ethylhexyglycerin, glycerin, glyceryl acrylate/acrylic acid copolymer, hydrogenated polydecene, laureth-7, moringa oleifera seed oil, oryza sativa starch, panthenol, parfum (fragrance), peg-8 distearate, polyacrylamide, propylene glycol, prunus amygdalus dulcis oil, pvm/ma copolymer, pvp, sodium benzoate, steareth-2, steareth-21, xantum gum.

Avant Moisture Surge Overnight Treatment

This creamy overnight mask is seriously hydrating without feeling tacky, heavy or oily. It feels like a hydrating moisturiser which is very nice. I put an even layer of this on at night and in the morning my skin feels really plump and hydrated, slightly oily, but I wash it off anyway.

Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Brush (RRP£25.00). Detoxify the complexion and reveal brighter skin with the Aromatherapy Associates Polishing Body Brush, a daily skincare tool which is designed to reinvigorate the epidermis. This multitasking brush can help to stimulate the renewal of skin cells, increase circulation, and reduce harmful toxins. As a result, the complexion begins to take on an all-over healthy glow and a smoother tone. Made from soft, natural bristles, this brush also has a hand strap, so it is easier to grip when in use.

I have never dry brushed myself before but I have always been interested in doing that to improve circulation, remove dead skin cells and improve the look of cellulite. This brush is a wide oval shape with a strap on the other side. I tried it on the back of my hand and goodness me, it was rough! I think I need some time to get used to it because the bristles are quite stiff. I tried it on my body before showering and with short, upward strokes in one direction, not circular motion.

In clinical tests, women reported their skin was smoother, with improved firmness and hydration.

Anne Semonin Youth Radiance Elixir Serum

I haven’t started using this serum yet, but from the picture above, it is a lightweight, gel-like texture serum. It is quickly absorbed into the skin. I will use this eventually, but currently, it doesn’t really excite me to the point I need to drop all my existing serums and start using it.

Ilapothecary Beat The Blues Room Spray (15ml, £29.00 for 50ml). This essential room spray contains the most powerful essential oils that are known to combat depression and to uplift emotions. An effective and transformative blend, it helps to clear an atmosphere and creates a peaceful and uplifting space. Clary Sage, also known as one of Nature’s happiness-inducing oils, combined with Rose Geranium restores peace and harmony, whilst Tuberose and Petitgrain are known to calm the mind and elevate our souls. Strengthening yet relaxing, Clary Sage is known to boost self-esteem, confidence, hope, and emotional strength. Its musky sweetness enlivens the senses while dispelling illusion and steadying the mind.

Ingredients: Ethanol, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower (Rose Geranium) Oil, Petitgrain Bigarade Oil, Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange) Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil, Tuberose Absolute Oil.

Ilapothecary Beat The Blues Room Spray

Upon opening the box, this is the first thing I smell and I loved it! Immediately, I literally sniffed out the product to confirm my instincts and this room spray is amazing. I did a quick spray in the room and it smells so good! Hubby cannot stand strong fragrance so I took this to work and I love giving my desk area a quick spritz before I start working.

Overall

I had no idea I forgot to publish this post and I kind of feel bad that this box was already in April! I try to test out all the products asap, but there are times where I have a little too much (only a little?) product to try and I don’t want my skin to go too much out of whack. Overall, I am quite happy with this box and my favourite product would be the Su-man Cleansing Gel-Oil and the Ilapothecary room spray.

I have already received my June box (this is a collab with MZ SKIN) and May box (Staycation – which I got after the June box, funny right). I will get those up shortly as well.
