Where I got it
I picked up a whole bunch of makeup from Shiseido, Dior and Chanel when Farmers had a beauty week event because it was double points on all brands including Dior and Chanel which only happens about once a year or two. It was double points for all Shiseido purchase as well as free lipstick of your choice for purchases over $99. I purchased this Tone Up primer compact, the powder foundation compact and a moisturiser for my hubby so I got to choose 2 lippies! Yay! This primer compact is $79.
What I got
This is the Shiseido Synchro Skin Tone Up Primer Compact (13g). Shiseido’s first in a tone up plus primer that synchronizes with your skin and can be used in four ways. Wear alone for a natural and brighter, foundation-free look or to prep skin for enhanced makeup wear. Apply over makeup for touch-ups or anytime shine-free hydration. This transformative and weightless texture blends easily and instantly illuminates, smooth pores, and corrects yellowish dullness for a youthful look.

How I find it
This compact alone is already so pretty and cute with its powdery pink shade and the Shiseido signature red line and logo. Inside the compact the component is black with a black sponge. Just like a cushion compact, the product is sealed under the air-right cover.
The product is also the same powdery pink shade and it looks like it has a balm-y texture. The sponge picks up the product quite well and you do need to rub the sponge in a little to get the product onto the sponge. I usually use this after I have finished with my skincare routine and applied sunscreen. The primer goes onto the skin almost like an oily balm, it feels slightly cooling but it is not greasy at all. The experience is actually quite strange, but in a good way.
The tone-up effect is actually more obvious on the back of my hand than on my face, maybe because I use it lightly because I don’t want to look like a ghost. I dip the sponge into the product at least 5-6 times to get an even layer on my skin. It doesn’t provide any coverage or blur imperfections and fine lines, just brightens up the skintone.
Overall
This primer is actually rather expensive when I come to write this blog, $79 for 13g of product is more expensive than a foundation! Their Synchro Skin Foundation is only $70 for 30ml! Even the refill is $59. I love the compact and texture of this primer compact, and even with only 13g of product, this will last for quite a while, but I don’t think that justifies the price. There are actually tonnes of tone-up primers available from K-beauty brands and if you are looking for a nice blurring, balm primer, try the Tatcha Silk Canvas original, or even the ELF Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer which is a dupe for the Tatcha one. Sorry Shiseido, this one did not work for me and I will not repurchase this.
