Where I got it
I was at the Chanel counted at Farmers yet again because I wanted to get another highlighter from Chanel. I wanted something from the Les Beiges collection and they happen to have just launched a fresh, summer collection. It is currently Winter and New Zealand so it’s not the best season for the looks. However, it is always the right season for highlighted cheekbones! I tossed between the highlighter compact and the liquid highlighter and I chose this one because of how versatile it is, so I decided to get this in the darker shade for $109. The other shade is Pearly Glow.
What I got
This is the Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid in Sunkissed (30ml). A water-light liquid face highlighter that illuminates skin with a delicate dewy finish and provides up to eight hours of wear.
Ingredients: AQUA (WATER), PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, POLYSORBATE 60, CETYL ALCOHOL, SORBITAN STEARATE, DIMETHICONE, POTATO STARCH MODIFIED, KALANCHOE PINNATA LEAF EXTRACT, GLYCERYL STEARATE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), CHLORPHENESIN, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, TETRASODIUM EDTA, PEG-8, CHONDRUS CRISPUS EXTRACT, TIN OXIDE, TOCOPHEROL, PHENOXYETHANOL, MALTODEXTRIN, ASCORBYL PALMITATE, CITRIC ACID, ASCORBIC ACID, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, [+ / – (MAY CONTAIN), CI 77007 (ULTRAMARINES), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77510 (FERRIC FERROCYANIDE), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE), MICA], IL44B-I.
How I find it
I picked this one instead of the lighter shade because I already have tonnes of liquid highlighter similar to that shade. From the glass bottle, both products look absolutely stunning! The glass bottle looked like their nail polish bottles but under the black plastic cap, it is a pump dispenser which I was pleasantly surprised. I was half expecting a pour-out design for some reason.
The Sunkissed shade is supposed to provide a nice sheer bronzed look. Obviously something for summer, but it’s also great during winter if you want a bit of a bronze glow. When I swatched this on the back of my hand it looked like a silky, smooth glow with a healthy tanned look. The texture is quite runny but not oily or greasy. It glides onto the skin easily and does not dry down super fast. I tried using this under the foundation, but unless you are using a sheer coverage product, you won’t be able to see it at all. I also tried mixing this u to the foundation which I did not see much of the product, also depending on what your foundation coverage is and how much of the highlighter you use.
You can use it as a highlighter as it is probably intended to do, it doesn’t affect my foundation underneath as I like to pat it down and I also like to use a stippling brush to apply. It brings out a glow, but it is hardly bronze enough for my skin tone. My favourite way to use it is an allover bronze glow with little to no foundation coverage. I like to conceal under the eyes and set it, then apply this all over my face in just a single layer. It gives a nice glow to my skin and slightly evens my skin tone. This probably isn’t the most popular way to use the product but I think it looks amazing on my skin.
Overall
Honestly I am not short on liquid highlighters but I don’t own any from Chanel and none that are this kind of shade. I would say this is more of a meh product purely because I really couldn’t see it on my face, unless I layer this ona few times. There is no way I will see it if I mix it into my foundation so I have given up on doing that. I would say if you have perfect skin or very good skin, you can use this on it’s own without any foundation coverage or just concealer to get that summery glow.
That being said, I really liked the texture and everything about it, just that I couldn’t justify the price of this product with what it does. I would probably use this on my body more than my skin because I don’t want to waste it. Have you tried this highlighting fluid and loved it? Let me know how you use it in the comments below.
