Dior Beauty 5 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette

Where I got it

I picked this up from NZsale for $116 and these are usually around $127 each. You can find Dior makeup at selected Farmers, Life Pharmacy, and Smith & Caughey. This shade is not limited edition so you can still purchase this.

What I got

This is the Dior Beauty 5 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette in 777 Exalt (matte). An icon of the Dior look and a concentration of expertise in terms of colour and visual effects, the 5 Couleurs palette is reinvented. How I find it

This is a full matte palette and goodness me they look like butter on the palette! It’s sio smooth and delicate with that quilted look as well! The light brown shade almost looks like milk chocolate! This is my first Dior eyeshadow palette so I really don’t know what to expect, but for matte eyeshadows, these are really high quality in my opinion. The most expensive matte eyeshadows that I have is probably Charlotte Tilbury and Tom Ford and these really do compare well.

As for the shades in this palette, the top two and the middle shade looks rather similar and the red seems a little out of place. I would have preferred for a medium shade in the middle and probably a lighter red.

Overall

Unexpectedly, I really enjoyed this palette. Initially, I was a little taken back with the three pale matte shades and a bright red, thinking I couldn’t really get the looks that I usually like to wear, but when I blend these shades together, I am able to get a more toned down red or a more brownish red that is more my kind of style. In my opinion, this isn’t a versatile palette or an inspiring palette, but it can be quite an everyday palette, if you are into these sort of shades.

I would prefer one of the lighter shades to be either metallic or shimmery, but I guess this is just a little outside my usual look which I appreciate. Overall, I am just impressed with the delicate texture of these matte shadows because they are so silky and smooth.
