Where I got it
After the Covid19 lockdown in March/April, this is the first time I visited my local L’Occitane (July). I knew that they had new product launched from my favourite bodycare line – Almond range. They launched a new body scrub as well as shampoo and conditioner. I had a quick look at the new products which were on the main display at the door, the scrub looks quite nice and grainy and it was $36 for 150g resealable bag. I also checked out the shampoo and conditioner ingredients list for SLS and I was disappointed to see it as the second ingredient so I put it down. I also picked up a refill pack of the Milk Concentrate which is one of my favourite body lotion/cream.
What I got
This is the L’Occitane Amande Crunchy Muesli Scrub (150g). A crunchy natural formula for soft, smooth and glowing skin. Introducing our new muesli-like body scrub. A natural, fragrance-free, biodegradable, crunchy formula made with almond flakes, almond shells particles and brown sugar, coated with almond oil from Provence. Ideal for tailor-made exfoliation, it exfoliates and removes dead skin and reduce the re-occurrence of ingrown hairs and dull skin. Use it alone for an intense exfoliation or mix it with your Almond Shower Oil, for a luxurious scrub! It will leave the skin soft, smooth and glowing.
Ingredients: SUCROSE – POLYGONUM FAGOPYRUM (BUCKWHEAT) SEED EXTRACT – PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) SHELL POWDER – PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) SEED MEAL – PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL – AQUA/WATER – HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL – TOCOPHEROL – DENATONIUM BENZOATE
How I find it
I love body scrubs and most of the time they come in these resealable, waterproof bags. The bag doesn’t come with that cute little wooden scoop, so I used just a regular spoon and I took about 2 tablespoons of the scrub into a plastic cup before I jump into the shower. I mix about 2 pumps of shower oil into the dry scrub and mix with my fingers. You can use the Almond Shower Oil or you can use any other shower oil. I wouldn’t use this on its own because it is fully dry and it will just fall right off your body even when it is damp. It will just be a waste of product.
The scrub mix was really nice with a shower oil and it has that right amount of grittiness to scrub the body. There are a few different sized granules for the exfoliation – at least two types of sugar granules sizes as well as mixed sizes of almond shell powder and almond seed meal. I wouldn’t put this anywhere near the face because the granules are way too big, but on the body, it feels great.
Overall
Previous body scrubs I used were mostly either coffee scrubs or pre-mixed body scrubs in an oil-based formula. I really like an oil-based scrub because it has the right glide on the skin and leaves the skin feeling so smooth and soft. I like how you can adjust your own scrub by adding in your preferred shower oil or even your body wash and make this an exfoliating body wash! I prefer to scoop the dry ingredients into a bowl and hop into the shower so I don’t make the bag messy and get water in there.
The ingredients in this mixture aren’t really revolutionary or special so I probably don’t need to buy this again and I can probably make my own with sugar, almond powder, and mix it with the Almond shower oil for that nourishing touch.
