Heimish All Clean Cleansing Balm

Where I got it

I picked this up ages ago from Hikoco and I picked it up in-store because I have heard so much about this cleansing balm. I always double cleanse, either with a cleansing oil or a cleansing balm to remove any makeup I have been wearing as well as sunscreen. I double cleanse even when I’m not wearing makeup, but I always wear sunscreen and they need special removers to remove it completely. This cleansing balm is $25.

Heimish All Clean Balm

What I got

This is the Heimish All Clean Balm (cleansing balm) (120ml). Aromatic and free of parabens, fragrance, or artificial pigments, Heimish’s hypoallergenic All Clean Balm will relax and de-stress you as you massage your day’s makeup and buildup away. Infused with Coconut Extract and Shea Butter, the balm melts into your skin and emulsifies with water to wash away dust, dirt, and even your heaviest makeup without an oily residue. It also moisturises and soothes skin with natural botanical extracts like Freesia and Iris, so you won’t be left tight and dry.

Heimish All Clean Balm

How I find it

After finishing up the Sunday Riley Blue Moon Cleansing Balm, I am sooooo impressed with this one. The SR cleansing balm was a real let-down because it was hard, gritty and hardly melts on my skin (it’s winter here rn, but that’s no excuse IMO), and it doesn’t rinse away completely. I couldn’t wait to finish it up and move onto a new one. Most of the time I prefer cleansing oils because I find scooping up a balm is slightly inconvenient, but it is less likely to drip. Anyway, I moved from SR cleansing balm to another cleansing balm and this really did wow me. The fragrance-free formula is snowy white and when you dig in with the scoop that it comes with, it feels like butter. It then melts in the palm of your hands like a dream and just transforms into an oil on the skin. It doesn’t run so I was able to open my eyes and not sting myself. It emulsifies effortlessly to melt down all the makeup and rinses off completely. My skin feels clean with no residue, also not dry and tight. Then I just use a facial cleanser for my second cleanse.

I also love the container as it has screw top lid as well as a flip-top for convenience. I’m not exactly sure why they did both options, but I always open from the flip-top, but I will definitely reuse this container for depotting a body lotion or those coffee scrubs that comes in a bag.

Overall

I absolutely love the texture of this cleansing balm, how it melts onto my skin, how it emulsifies and rinses off clean, I love it all. However, I did a quick makeup-removing test on the back of my hand on the hardest to remove makeup – waterproof liquid eyeliner. I used a couple of my hardest-wearing liquid eyeliner on the back of my hand and unfortunately, the cleansing balm does not remove it. Which comes to the conclusion that for removing waterproof eye makeup, you should stick to using a bi-phase eye makeup remover on a cotton pad and gently wipe. I used to just be lazy and use my cleansing oil or balm over my entire eye area as well, but that usually doesn’t remove all the eye makeup completely and you need to be really careful because you don’t want makeup residue around the eye area as it can get into your eyes.

But you can see from the picture above, how the makeup melts some of the eyeliner and how it turns into a thick oil that doesn’t run. When you emulsify it, it turns white and runny. It leaves no residue or film on my skin afterwards. I got some hard-wearing eyeliners there don’t I? I ended up removing it all with Clinique’s Take The Day Off eye makeup remover. This one and the Banila Co Zero Cleansing Balm are both in my good books and I will certainly repurchase these in the future.
