Where I got it
I picked this up at Farmers after seeing this on their IG (@beautyatfarmers). I realised they had a gift with purchase for Waso products so I picked up a cleanser from this range as well. This Beauty Smart Water is a new launch product and it was $55. I really wanted to see what this product is because it claims to be a 3-in-1 product that cleanses as well as hydrated and primes the skin!

What I got
This is the Shiseido Waso Beauty Smart Water (250ml). Gentle 3-in-1 cleansing water inspired by a Japanese rice-based drink (amazake) to cleanse, hydrate, and prime. Remove impurities and maintain skin’s moisture with this gentle cleansing water for your face. The formula removes light makeup and excess sebum (oil) without stripping skin. Inspired by Japanese amazake, a traditional rice-based drink, the formula includes Koshihikari Rice Extract to refine the skin’s texture for skin that is smooth and ready for makeup.

Shiseido Waso Beauty Smart Water
How I find it
This Beauty Water has a layer of precipitation at the bottom when left untouched for a few hours. The precipitation at the bottom looks exactly like the water after rinsing uncooked rice. So you need to give it a good shake before using. Initially I was expecting to be like a rice toner, but I have seen people use this as a cleansing water so I decided to give that a go as well. It is designed to be used with cotton rounds or reuseable makeup removing pads to gentle wipe across the skin to remove any makeup. I need to use a 2 rounds (front and back) to fully remove all my makeup, and an extra one to ensure everything is off. After removeing the makeup, I will lightly wash the reuseable pads with hand wash and chuck it into the wash once a week.
After removing my makeup, I don’t even need to rinse my skin or apply anything! I usually wash my face once in the middle of the day or late afternoon because I want to remove my makeup before I cook dinner. Therefore something like this to remove my makeup and freshen up my face is really desirable. At the end of the day, I always double cleanse with an oil cleanser so even if this water doesn’t get rid of all my makeup, my double cleanse will at the end of the day.
I also used this as a toner for a few days after washing my face and this really hydrated my skin lightly and it brighens up skin! I was really surprised that my skin looks clean and purified with the use of this product. My skin felt really comfortable, not tight or dry, but not sticky or greasy as well. I am pleasantly surprised to say the least.

Overall
I don’t think “prime” means priming for makeup, but more priming your skin for skincare if you know what I mean. So this product is probably best suited to be used as a toner that removes any remaining makeup and impurities and hydrate and condition the skin at the same time. It preps the skin for any skincare products to be applied by hydrating the skin and keeping it lightly damp. Like I mentioned before I was pleasantly surprised at how hydrated my skin felt and how bright my skin looks after using this as a cleanser/makeup remover. When I applied more on my skin, my skin felt supple and soft without feeling greasy or sticky.
Personally, I prefer a cleansing oil or cleansing balm because they are quick and easy. You don’t need to use any cotton rounds or makeup pads to remove your makeup and you don’t need to wash them up afterwards. The sight of these makeup pads looking yellow and grey and pink from my makeup is actually quite gross so it is not something I would like to go through every single day. I would prefer to use this on days where I am wearing light makeup or as a morning cleanser or even as a toner. I love the hydration and brightening effect this gives me.
