Where I got it
I ordered this from Yestyle.com after reading really good reviews of this sunscreen by Purito. I haven’t really looked into this K-beauty brand because the packaging didn’t really appeal to me and the brand seems to focus on sensitive and irritated skin types. Personally, I do not have sensitivity issues or irritations, but since using Tretinoin, I experienced some irritations around my face and I got more conscious of the products I use during this time. I picked this up from Yestyle.com for $25.29. It took about 2 weeks to arrive to NZ. I should’ve purchased this from Hikoco because it was only $29 on there.
What I got
This is the Purito Comfy Water Sun Block SPF50 PA++++ (60ml). This sunblock does not contain essential oils and fragrances, which makes it suitable for children and those with sensitive skin. It is a safe physical sunblock, which is great for oily skin as it contains Zinc Oxide that helps control sebum and soothes acne. It feels comfortable on the skin all day due to its light and pleasant texture with a minimal white cast.
Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate (emollient), Butylene Glycol (humectants), Glycerin (humectants), Dipropylene Glycol (humectants), Zinc Oxide (sunscreen agents), Silica (texturing agents), Niacinamide (brightening), 1,2-Hexanediol (stabilizers), Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate (emulsifiers), Titanium Dioxide (sunscreen agents), Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate (viscosity increasing agents), Cetearyl Olivate (emulsifying agents), Sorbitan Olivate (emulsifying agents), Madecassoside (strengthens skin barrier), Asiaticoside (strengthens skin barrier), Madecassic Acid (strengthens skin barrier), Asiatic Acid (strengthens skin barrier), Stearic Acid (emulsifying agents), Lauroyl Lysine (skin-conditioning agents), Disodium EDTA (stabilizers), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (viscosity increasing agents), Adenosine (improves wrinkles), Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer (viscosity increasing agents).
How I find it
Purito actually has at least 3 different types of sunscreen products – Centella Green Level fragranced and fragrance-free, also this one – Comfy Water. The Centella Green sunscreens are organic UV filters (chemical), this one is 100% physical non-nano UV filters. Many people may prefer organic UV filters because chemical filters do not cause this white cast a physical UV filter can give. I personally prefer a physical UV filter and don’t mind a hint of white cast as long as it is not too strong. It is a preference thing essentially and whatever your skin prefers. There isn’t really a better option between chemical and physical sunscreen in terms of sensitivity because everyone can be sensitive to anything, so you just need to know what your skin reacts to and just avoid whatever it is.
This sunscreen here is really light in texture, and you can see that this product has that sunscreen white colour, but when rubbed into the skin, it almost disappears by about 90%. I can see that the skin tone is lighter, but not that white pasty look. So make sure you massage it in completely. There is no fragrance (but there is a smell to it) and no essential oils to this sunscreen which is great because it reduces the chance of sensitivity. SPF50 is pretty much the new standard of sunscreen from K-beauty and I am not mad at it if they can make it this light and comfortable on the skin.
Overall
This sunscreen is quite moisturising and it has a comfortable touch to it. It’s not thin and watery or too thick, it feels more like a moisturiser that soothes your skin. The faint smell fades as soon as the product is massaged onto the face. Love love love this, but it does get a little boring in the long run. I think my hubby would enjoy this actually, let me get him to have a go. I’ve been wanting to make him wear more sunscreen on a regular basis, but how do I get him to double cleanse to remove the sunscreen at the end of the day???
