Where I got it
Recently, I have been interested into scalp care because I do get some build-up and dandruff on my scalp. I will go on and describe my hair type and concerns future in this post, but I basically Googled “scalp treatment” and a couple of brands came up – mainly from Sephora and Mecca for shopping results. There were also Sunday Riley and Drunk Elephant, but I was picked this one because of the price and that it is genuinely a haircare brand (not skincare turned haircare). Even though I may try both SR and DE in the future anyway.
What I got
This is the Aveda Pramasana Purifying Scalp Cleanser (150ml). Deeply, yet gently cleanses and purifies the scalp to help instantly balance sebum levels, while it exfoliates and removes pollution – creating a clean scalp foundation for beautiful hair. Scalp is left invigorated and refreshed. Aveda’s own pure-fume™ aroma with grapefruit, neroli, cypress and other pure flower and plant essences.

How I find it
My scalp is generally normal to oily and my hair is normal to dry on the ends. I have medium long hair and it is relatively straight with a bit of a wave. I wash my hair every 2-3 days depending on the weather, what I’ve been doing, etc. I love freshly washed hair and scalp but most of the time I have a bit of itchy scalp issue.
So before shampoo, while my hair and scalp is still dry, I apply the product directly at my roots all over my scalp and then massage with my fingertips. The product starts off as a liquid, then it starts to lather up a little. Then I hop into the shower and rinse that off. Then I follow up with a light application of shampoo. I can feel the shampoo lathers up much easily after using the scalp cleanser because it actually acts as a shampoo already.
Overall
First of all, I really like the smell of this scalp cleanser, it is really herbal and not your usual pepperminty smell for scalp products. This doesn’t leave your scalp minty fresh and it does not feel astringent on the skin as well. The pointed nozzle is great to get into the scalp without touching the hair and the product isn’t too runny so you can apply through the whole head and then massage without dripping. Rinsing off the product was easy and it makes shampooing the hair much easier and faster. My scalp feels clean without feeling stripped or dried out.
After using this for almost 3 weeks, my scalp is significantly cleaner with less build-up which was my main concern. My scalp is less oily as well and it can last for a good 3 days without washing. This stuff is pretty good despite not seeing immediate results, it is gentle but it works.
