L’Occitane Shea Nail & Cuticle Nourishing Oil

Where I got it

This is my second visit to a L’Occitane store after the Covid19 lockdown and it has been another purchasing visit. Last time, I bought the Crunchy Museli Scrub and a refill pack of the Milk Concentrate. This time I picked up something entirely different and something I don’t often use. This nail and cuticle oil is $29 for only 7.5ml which is quite pricey, but I really like the tube and brush design and honestly I have pretty dry and peeling cuticles and they need some love.

What I got

This is the L’Occitane Shea Nail & Cuticle Nourishing Oil (7.5ml). A nourishing dry oil for stronger nails and softer cuticles. Enriched with a high concentration of Shea Oil (30%), the Nail & Cuticule Nourishing Oil soften your cuticles and strengthen your nails, nourishing every nook and cranny of them. It comes with a brush applicator for a quick and easy application.

How I find it

I haven’t been a big fan of cuticle oils because they are: 1. Greasy and messy. 2. Time consuming. When the store manager tried this on my nail and cuticles, I wasn’t particularly wowed because it looked and felt like any other cuticle oil. I immediately massaged the oil into my nails and I can feel that the oil isn’t just sitting on my skin or nails, it really does get absorbed!

The store manager recommended consistent use for at least 2 weeks to see results, but the tube recommends 4 weeks. However, I do see a big different with the first application (compared to using nothing). I usually just rub hand cream all over my cuticle are and that’s it. But I guess a cuticle oil does have its place in the world after all!

I made sure that I have it on my bedside table so I can apply it just before bed, but I also decided to bring it to work and apply it whenever I know I won’t be washing my hands within the next 2 hours.

Overall

I have been using this every night and sometimes during the day as well for 2 weeks now and I have been treating my hand as usual – washing dishes, cooking, applying handcream when I remember. I can see my cuticles being more moisturised and less peeling, but my thumb and second finger still has dry, hard skin and some peeling. However I am confident that after another 2 weeks of use, the condition will further improve.
