Where I got it
I was at Mecca Maxima wanting to pick up my last Beauty Loop Box for the year 2020 (a mini sized By Terry Bauer De Rose Lipgloss!). I thought I might smell some of the scents of the Aveda products because I am really particular of scents and I’ve been looking into their products quite a bit. The dry shampoo was $35, which is quite expensive for dry shampoo, because I am used to using supermarket brands like Baptise or OGX which are under $15 each.
What I got
This is the Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo (60ml). The perfect remedy for days when you just washing your locks just isn’t an option. Formulated with oil-absorbing properties to leave your hair as fresh as can be. Infused with Aveda’s calming Shampure aroma, composed of 25 pure flower and plant essences.
Ingredients: Zea mays (corn) starch, montmorillonite, tapioca starch, avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, silica, fragrance (parfum), farnesol, linalool, benzyl salicylate, citronellol, citral, limonene, benzyl benzoate, geraniol, potassium sorbate.
How I find it
I usually wash my hair every 3rd day because I have dry ends and relatively normal to oily roots. My around the end of the 2nd day, I would use a dry shampoo the night before or in the morning on the 3rd day. With this dry shampoo, it does not contain any isobutane, butane or propane which are usually the main ingredients as it is their delivery system. You only get a small amount of corn starch or rice starch, etc. This one has a puffing delivery system so it’s main ingredient is corn starch and you just need to twist the top cap to reveal the nozzle, and then you squeeze the bottle to release a puff of powder. I put it closer to the root area (approximately 6cm from the roots) and just squeeze. You need to try it out a few times to see how much product comes out depending on how hard you squeeze it.
Overall
Loving this product at the moment, I love how light it is on my hair without that really strong fragrance. It feels lightweight and really non-gritty, you cannot “feel” the powder on your hair, but it can definitely absorb any excess oil and give you that fresh hair look without weighing your hair down. I just work the product into my hair near the roots. If I am using this on the night before, I leave it on overnight and brush my hair thoroughly the morning after. If I use it on the morning before, I leave it on for a few minutes while I do other things, and then brush it out.
