Where I got it
So every year during the summer, L’Orccitance comes up with limited-edition body products and it has been about twice a in a row that they revamp their Verbena collection. Last year they had the same Citrus Verbena scented products – a shower gel, a water gel for the body, a hair and body mist and a hand cream. The packaging was a bright, refreshing yellow. This year, they revamped the Classic Verbena and Citrus Verbena. The collection has been designed by Ayumi Takahashi. “Invigorate your senses with the unmistakable energising and zesty scent of Verbena and it’s playful textures dressed in an eye-catching limited edition design.” The collection for this year included a body scrub, a body lotion, a body gel, an eau de toilette for each scent, a shower gel, a cooling mousse for the leg, and a hand gel.
I bought a set that comes in a cute little pouch which I am now using to carry my little pieces at my work desk, the set included a Body Scrub and a Body Cream from the Citrus Verbena (Verveine Agrumes) scent. This set was $80. There was another set with the Classic Verbena scent which included the Shower Gel and the Body Gel which has a sorbet texture instead of the water gel texture like last year’s collection (I hated that one, but more about that one further down..).
What I got
This is the LIMITED EDITION L’Occitane Verveine Agrumes Frappe Body Cream and Body scrub set. This set contains a Frappe Body Cream (150ml) and a Deliciously Body Scrub (150ml) in the scent Citrus Verbena. Among all the aromatic herbs that grow along the paths of Provence, there is one whose lemony freshness revives the body and mind. Its name is Verbena. When baskets are piled high with freshly harvested green verbena leaves, its distinctive fragrance fills the air around the markets of Provence.
Frappe Body Cream (150ml). An ultra-light moisturising body cream that refreshes and envelops the skin with an invigorating scent. This ultra-light body cream melts into the skin like a fresh, cooling sorbet. Ideal for hot summer days, it gives an instant feeling of freshness and envelops the skin in a zesty, invigorating scent.
Deliciously Fresh Scrub (150ml). This delicious citrus scrub exfoliates gently, for smooth and silky skin. This delicious body scrub combines finely ground walnut shell with menthol for a gentle and refreshing exfoliating experience. It leaves the skin feeling smooth, silky and delicately fragranced with a zesty, invigorating scent.
How I find it
When I tried this body scrub out at the store I was immediately drawn. I did a quick sniff test as well as a texture experience. It has a thick consistency and feels like marmalade with bits of citrus zest and ground walnut shells (not sure about this one, but it is quite a small amount inside). I use a decent amount of this scrub in the shower and even thought it is quite thick in the jar, it spreads very nicely without bits falling off. I absolutely love the menthol and citrus scent in this scrub! It fills my nose and my bathroom and leaves a light, fresh feeling and scent after washing off.
This body cream is a lightweight cream, but still provides sufficient hydration and moisture. It is not heavy, and has a similar pudding-like texture in the jar so it jiggles. I like to apply this after a shower, but I noticed that if I apply too much it will kind of pill up and get a little tacky on the skin so I made sure I apply just the right amount and not layer it with anything else. This is great for summer, but possibly not enough for wintertime.
As I mentioned above, I hated the Water Gel for Body from last year’s LE collection. It looks amazing in a minty green clear gel with bubbles suspended inside. It even has a cooling touch when applied, but once it is rubbed into the skin, it doesn’t get absorbed and leaves this disgusting layer on the skin that is tacky and sticky. If you rub a little bit more, it pills up and just gets sticky and yuck. The only way to get around it is apply a very little amount and just not touch your skin afterwards.
Overall
Absolutely adore this collection – the scent has always been a favourite – a splash of grapefruit twist in this classic verbena scent just makes this a hint more yummy. I really want to get the Classic Verbena shower gel and body gel set as well, but I am still very skeptical about the texture and finish of this new Body Gel. I tried it on at the store and the sales assistant did tell me that this one does not have that sticky feeling as last year’s Water Gel. Instead, it has a sorbet-like texture, but it still felt like it was sitting on my skin instead of sinking in. Anyway, I might wait until they go on sale to grab the shower gel and I will possibly grab another body scrub because I love it so much!
