Where I got it
Last year Mintd Box did two collab boxes (Votary and MZ Skin) and both were amazing, I love them both. Click on the links to see my review. We are seeing our first collab box for 2021 and it is with Rodial Skincare! This box is already available on their website under the subscription page and it contains 4 full-sized products worth £305!
This is not my first time trying Rodial Skincare, I have tried their Bee Venom Super Serum in a previous Mintd Box (4th birthday). I also have a bottle of their Vit C Glow Tonic from their Staycation edit, but I have yet to try it out. I did enjoy the Bee Venom Super Serum, but I must admit I haven’t been using that continuously to see results. I have been stopping and starting and alternating with other products so I couldn’t really say I loved it. Anyway, since I have more products from their line, I will be putting the Super Serum into a more brand-focused routine.

How I find it
Pink Diamond Cleansing Balm. A cleansing balm in a squeeze tube is just my prayers answered. I love cleansing balms because they are easier to take around (in my bathroom, and travelling) compared to cleansing oils. But I always need to bring along a spatula and I have dropped those behind gaps and lost them numerous times. Anyway, this cleansing balm is really soft and it melts in the warmth of my hands instantly and it glides onto my face like an oil cleanser. It gently removes my makeup and gives a very good slip whilst still feel luxurious. It contains super-finely milled diamond powder but you won’t be able to feel it on the skin. It sounds really luxurious, but I have no idea what that does for your skin because you wash it off anyway, so it doesn’t even leave your skin with a shimmer or glow?
Anyway, the cleansing balm works a treat. It is so gentle on the skin and the muslin cloth helps remove makeup, but you actually don’t need to use it because it does emulsify and rinses off clean. Very very nice cleanser.
Vit C Moisturiser with sunscreen SPF30. This is marketed as a “moisturiser WITH SPF” and why I am emphasizing that is because a “moisturiser WITH SPF” is different to a “moisturising sunscreen”. Usually, you would use about pea-size to nickel-size moisturiser depending on your skin type. My combination skin cannot handle anything more than a pea-sized thick moisturiser because I already applied hydrating serums and other serums underneath. However, with sunscreen (SPF), you will need at least 3 finger lengths for the full face and maybe 1 more finger length for the neck and chest area. Therefore if you are using only a pea-sized of this “moisturiser with SPF”, it will not be enough coverage as a sunscreen. If you are using 3 finger-lengths of this “moisturiser with SPF” it might be too moisturising for your combination/oily skin. I hope that makes sense.
So what can we do with a “moisturiser with sunscreen”? You can obviously use it as a daytime moisturiser. If you are mostly indoors and away from a window, a moisturiser with SPF30 would be sufficient and better than none at all. However, if you are out and about, travelling in cars, etc. it would be best to apply a separate sunscreen with minimum SPF30 on top of the moisturiser to ensure you have sufficient coverage.
This is a chemical-filter sunscreen, but it does have that moisturiser thickness and texture. It has a slight white cast on the skin at first, but once you rub that in fully, it disappears and leaves a bit of a glow. After it has settled for 1-2 minutes, the glowiness will subside. I have tried using this as a sunscreen (3 finger length) and indeed it was a little too heavy for my combination-oily skin and would take a few minutes to fully set down.
Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Mask. This is a hydrating gel-cream mask that you can use as an overnight mask or as an intensive protective mask in-flight. The texture is really fresh and light and very hydrating. It glides onto the skin easily and spreads easily. It disappears soon after application but needed a good 1-2 minutes to absorb and not feel tacky. My skin did not feel greasy or feeling like I have a layer on top of my skin, but at the same time, I did not need to apply anything over it.
If I do wash it off, it does feel slippery when in contact with water so it is obvious that there is a layer of product on my skin. I would prefer to use this as an overnight mask because it feels so comfortable and I want it to give my skin the best bang for my buck and it is effectively a protective layer on my face for the cold, dry winter nights.
Bee Venom Eye Cream. This is a thick, moisturising eye cream. I usually skip an eye cream because I apply moisturiser around my eye area anyway, except for tretinoin and anything that is too heavy or greasy because I tend to get milia around the eye area. If I decide to use a heavy moisturiser or tretinoin, I would either reach for a hydrating essence or an eye cream for the eye area. This eye cream looks really heavy, but it actually melts easily on the eye area and feels quite lightweight. It blends out easily and does not cause irritation. This jar will take me at least a year to finish!
Overall
This box has broadened my Rodial product experience and kind of made me enjoy the brand more. My absolute favourite would have to be the Pink Diamond Cleansing Balm and the Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Mask. The texture and efficacy of these two products are really up my street. The cleansing balm is so soft and melts so well on my palms. It breaks down my makeup so easily and it is such a pleasure to use at the same time. I also love that gel-cream texture of the hyaluronic mask, it immediately hydrates and soothes my skin and I like how non-sticky it is on my skin. No greasiness, no sticky film.
The moisturiser with SPF is nice, but not a moisturiser I would reach for on a daily basis, but it is quite handy when I know I am going to be indoors and out of the sun. I can apply this moisturiser without additional sunscreen. If it was tinted, then it would be perfect. The eye cream really is my least favourite from the box, but it’s not because it is a bad product, it’s only because I really seldom use eye cream. I would most likely use this as a nighttime moisturiser, or give this away to my sister who uses an eye cream.
