Where I got it
While I have never been a subscriber to Beauty Heroes boxes, I find that their shipping and value is quite good. I did a one-time box with them earlier this year (2021) when they featured Ayuna Less Is Beauty and they did Terra Bella. It was a single product box and it was a very expensive cream with high-tech stem cell technology. After that box, I haven’t bought another from them until this one.
This month’s box contains two products from the brand Blissoma. I have not seen this brand a lot on social media and do not remember anyone talking about it on YouTube (well, not from the people I follow). However, I really liked the sound of these two products. One is a sunscreen and the other is a brightening serum. So I decided to pay around NZD$109 for this box which had a value of USD$124. It was delivered on 11th June.
What I got
This is the May 2021 Beauty Heroes box featuring Blissoma. “This month’s Discovery featuring Blissoma, offers multi-disciplinary products to support skin’s dynamic nature. Because while our skin is smart – it knows how to defend, repair, and recover – we can make its job easier by reducing the toxic burden and replenishing its natural oils and essential nutrients so it can adapt to change with ease. This month’s Discovery delivers two products that do just that.”
Photonic Light Shifting Solution SPF25 ($52 for 46g). The ultimate mineral facial sunscreen with a featherweight, perfecting finish. While many sunscreens focus on being just a barrier product this recipe is dense with antioxidants, vitamins, phytonutrients and skin supportive compounds. Oils like argan and tamanu hail from global environments where the sun is intense, and have been used for centuries to protect skin from the elements. Raw, organic sesame seed oil, red raspberry seed oil, and blackberry seed oil add lightweight, allergy-conscious nutrition that supports zinc oxide’s sun-protective benefits. Niacinamide at 3% supports the appearance of even skin tone and helps provide all-day hydration retention to keep your skin plump and comfortable. Black tea, gotu kola, and hydrangea support skin’s resilience and healthy appearance. Photonic’s translucent light pink colour comes from astaxanthin, a red algae ingredient with a super-high ORAC level. Photonic is a light, barely-there moisturizing emulsion with an SPF 25 from micronized non-nano zinc oxide for lasting mineral protection from the sun.

How I find it
I am super excited about these products because I love a brightening serum and a tinted sunscreen is always on rotation in my routine. The Aura Phyto Brightening Serum has a milky pale brown colour and it feels really lightweight. The texture is quite fluid and absorbs very easily. It doesn’t have that silky touch or silicone-like finish so whatever goes on after the serum is also easily absorbed and won’t interfere. I use two pumps for the entire face and neck and that is plenty.
After the serum, I use about 2-3 pumps of the Photonic Light Shifting Solution all over my face and another pump for my neck area. This is a moisturising sunscreen, so it is a sunscreen, but it also has moisturising qualities. It is also slightly tinted and the shade is more on the fair/light or light side. It doesn’t feel thick and hard to blend out, and it applies like a moisturising lotion. The tint is very faint and I cannot see any white cast on my skin at all, but I’m not sure if that applies to deeper skin tones. I use about 2 full pumps of this all over my face and neck as 1 pump dispenses quite a decent amount of product. It sets down within a minute or two and you are ready for any makeup products without feeling like you piled on layers and layers of product on your face.
Overall
While I have not finished both products, I really do enjoy using these so far. The brightening serum is lightweight and absorbs easily. It doesn’t provide a lot of hydration or moisture, but it also doesn’t leave my skin sticky or heavy. I trust that it works its magic without overloading my skin. I like to use these two products in tandem with each other during the day and use the serum under my nighttime moisturise for the night. I find the tint in Photonic to be very faint which is something that I don’t really mind.
Overall, I really enjoy both products and I am surely open to trying more of their products in the future.
