Where I got it
I have been wanting to try some of the Dior perfumes for a few months now. My local Dior counter at Farmers do no stock these exclusive perfumes so I had to go into the Dior beauty boutique in Commercial Bay in town. They also have some fragrances at the Dior boutique as well. The Dior beuaty boutique at Commercial Bay has a full range of their perfumes, body creams, hand and body soap, candles, some mitzahs, skincare and makeup.
I was greeted with a warm welcome by one of their staff (both Asian, so we were able to speak our own language), and she recommended me some scents that I would like and some that are best sellers. I ended up choosing a 40ml perfume is Rose Kabuki ($180) and also a Hand and Body Soap as well as a Body Cream all in different scents. Needless to say, she gave me plenty of samples of other fragrances, skincare samples and a Dior Lip Glow sample. She also told me that they would be able to make a phone order and postage to New Zealand is free (including perfumes). If you want their contact details, I am happy to provide them to you.
What I got
This is the La Collection Privee Christian Dior in Rose Kabuki (40ml). NAME: Homage to Kabuki, the traditional Japanese theater, Rose Kabuki is a fragrance that boldly combines the freshness of rose with the scent of powder, inspired by the face makeup worn by the actors on stage. CHARACTER: Rose Kabuki has a theatrical character. When the curtain rises, the fragrance reveals a powerful rose note beneath a powdery dusting of musks. DISTINCTIVE FEATURE: The Rose Kabuki fragrance is pricked with a green note to portray the rose from stem to flower. COLOUR: The rosy pink of the rose. This floral and musky fragrance conveys the colour of a flower with a vivid pink soothed by a voluptuous white. FAMILY: Light floral. Rose Kabuki is a pure and immediate fragrance with scents of newly bloomed rose that burst with generosity. A fragrance with powdery nuances, like a delicately dusted bouquet of roses. INTENSITY: Rose Kabuki is a fresh and confident fragrance. A delicate rose that encounters the intensity of musks.
“I wanted to create a delicate rose swathed in powdery, cottony musks, bringing to mind the immaculate faces of traditional Japanese Kabuki theater. A rose that is pink at heart, but enveloped in a white that haloes its petals. Its caressing softness is pricked with vivid, dew-pearled greens.”

How I find it
I picked the smallest bottle size in 40ml and I am quite glad that they do smaller bottles because I hardly finish even my favourite fragrances. So I don’t want to be spending $390 for a bottle (Chanel 1957) that will expire! Their perfume also comes in 100ml and 250ml!
There was an array of perfume to choose from (over 20 I think!), so I was a little overwhelmed. Tracy, the sales assistant helped me to locate some of the scents that I would like. I prefer something light, maybe a little citrus, a little floral and a little musky. She gave me a sniff of Lucky, Rose Kabuki, Diorrissima, Jasmin Des Anges and La Colle Noire.
My 3 top choices were Lucky, Jasmin Des Anges and Rose Kabuki. However, Rose Kabuki doesn’t come in a body cream or body soap so I went for the fragrance in Rose Kabuki and body cream in Lucky and body soap in Jasmin Des Anges. I wasn’t going to consider Rose Kabuki because the first sniff was really floral and smelled like something you can find from any other brands, but when I put the tester card down for a few minutes and picked it up again, it smelled slightly different and very elegant and beautiful! I loved it at second sniff!
All of their fragrances comes in its own protective sleeve and you are supposed to put it back into the tube after using it to protect it from smashing and protect it from heat and UV rays. If you go for the largest bottle, they can also do custom engraving for you as well. Rose Kabuki smells quite floral and it is in their light floral collection with the likes of Sakura and Rose Gipsy.
Overall
I’m not very familiar with fragrance and scents, so I can’t really explain in details what the fragrance smells like and how it changes, but I always think a fragrance is very personal and everyone prefers different top notes, intensity, trails, longevity, etc. Rose Kabuki is perfect for me. It is light, floral and even when it fades, it still smells really pleasant.
I will actually go into Dior again to get Lucky, because it really is such a beautiful scent. Do you own any Privee Dior fragrances?
