Where I got it
I have been following Lisa Eldridge on YouTube for a long time and even when I have unsubscribed to a bunch of makeup gurus since early 2020 (or maybe late 2019?), I kept a handful of subscriptions of the people I really like and had a positive influence and presence (Wayne Goss, Michelle Phan, Michelle Wang, etc.) When Lisa first launched her makeup line (lipsticks), I did not purchase any because they sold out like hotcakes and were quite pricey. I wasn’t in the position to purchase expensive lipsticks.
Fast forward a few years on, she has launched more lipstick shades as well as lip glosses. On Saturday 29th May (4pm UK time, which was 3am Sunday 30th May in NZT), she has launched new products – cream/liquid blush and liquid highlighters as well as new shades in her lipgloss formula. Now, liquid/cream blushes and highlighters really tickled my fancy and I decided to give them a chance. I ordered 2 Gloss Embrace Lip Glosses ($25 each), an Enlivening Blush ($34), and an Elevated Glow Highlighter ($38). It came to USD$122 (shipping to New Zealand was and additional USD$21.32, so the grand total was USD$143.32 (approx. NZD$199). It was clearly stated on the website the items were on pre-order and will be shipped on 14th June.
**UPDATE** I recieved an email from Lisa Eldridge with the shipping notification and a tracking number. Hopefully not too long now! **UPDATE** I have received the items on 18/6! It was safely packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with heaps of tissue paper to provide cushioning. I had the lip glosses and the blush in the little velvet makeup pouch and the highlighter is separately wrapped in tissue paper.
What I got
Gloss Embrace Lip Gloss (Muse and Charm) $25. Embellish your lips with a smooth non-sticky veil of colour whilst simultaneously replenishing them with nourishing oils and butters. This clever multitasking formulation functions as both medium to high pigment gloss and instant restoring treatment, cushioning the lips with emollient hydrators and leaving them as soft as silk. Lips feel smoothed and plumped long after application has worn off. The benefits of intense lip care fused with the fashionability of a truly Lucent lip colour.
Enlivening Blush (Mountain Walk) $34. A unique and innovative make-up/skincare hybrid formula infused with skincare ingredients and blurring technology. The super light textured, cream blush is incredibly easy to apply and blend. Imparts the cheeks with a wonderfully believable translucent ‘blushing from within’ effect. Feels creamy on application and blends down to a natural, ‘skin-like’ finish that is neither too dewy or too matte. Start with the tiniest dot and build to the intensity you desire using fingers or your regular foundation/skin brush.
Elevated Glow Highlighter (Cosmic Rose) $38. A gorgeously glowy and seamless highlighter that looks flattering in all lighting. Elevated Glow comes in four, skin adaptive sheer tones designed to add an amplified luminous glow to the high points of the face whilst simultaneously delivering high performance skin benefits. An ingenious glow/skincare hybrid with subtle skin tightening and smoothing effects. Elevated Glow contains lots of small, multicoloured shimmering pearls in a sheer, lightly tinted and skin adaptive base. The level of shimmer on the skin depends on how much you apply so start with a small dot and build to the desired level of ‘glow’ you prefer.
How I find it
Let’s have a look at the Gloss Embrace Lip Glosses. The shades I have chosen are shades that I would wear on a regular basis. I often go for these shades when I want to try a formula out because if I like it, I want to be able to wear it often. The lip glosses come in a glass tube with a doe-foot applicator. The applicator was surprisingly stiff which wasn’t what I was expecting. I would prefer a softer applicator, but let’s have a look at the formula.
The lip gloss glides onto the lips effortlessly and deposits a nice, even layer of pigment. It is not streaky and one swipe covers the bottom lip nicely and I just go in again for the top lip. The finish is glossy, but not sticky. You can feel it on the lips, and it’s not drying or thick. Muse looks exactly like my lip colour but better, and Charm gives my lips a beautiful wash of rosy pink colour.
I think the Enlivening Blush would be my most anticipated product out of the range. I seldom use a cream blush in a tube and I went for a deeper, sort of fuchsia pink. The slim tube houses a lot of products and tip of the tube is clear so you can clearly see the colour of your blush. When you twist off the white cap, you will see the entire tip is clear. It it so beautiful! The shade Mountain Walk is so bright and quite deep and the colour is very long-lasting.
The Elevated Glow Highlighter is a liquid highlighter with a doe-foot applicator. The formula is quite sheer and very easy to blend. It blends out very natural and not obnoxious. If you want something more blinding and glowy, you can build up the layers slightly, but not too much because it can add texture. This shade Cosmic Rose looks very seamless on my skin as it does have a beige undertone and it is not shimmery or glittery at all. It has pretty good longevity and wears off like fading out, not patchy at all and does not sit in my pores or fine lines.
Overall
Overall
Overall I am very happy about these products, the shades are beautiful, the packaging is exceptional, the longevity is really good and the application was easy. I can tell that they would last me a long time, especially the Enlivening Blush and the Elevated Glow because they are pigmented and a little goes a long way. However, if you ask me if I would purchase difference shades of these, I do not think I would in the near future. Mainly because I know I will never finish these products and if they are smaller in size and cheaper, I may, but at the moment, I have a lot of makeup already and I am already satisfied having tried her products. If I do not have an abundance amount of makeup already in my stash, I would definitely go for the blush and the highlighter. The blush is very pigmented and versatile, I think you can use as a lip tint as well or a wash of colour over the lids if you are into these tones on your eyes. The highlighter can also be used on the lids for some sheen. The lipglosses, I can clearly live without even though they are really good quality.
There we are, my final thoughts on these products. I clearly left it way too late to give a full review and that’s because I have been on a rute lately… in social media, on my blog… And now we are in lockdown I have not been wearing much makeup. Things happening around the world is quite depressing, thus making me feel a little uninspired to do anything. Let’s see how things go for the rest of the year. Stay safe and keep healthy everyone!
