Chanel La Pausa Spring/Summer 2022

Where I got it

I have been seeing beautiful posts on the gram of the Chanel Beauty Spring/Summer 2022 collection since December last year and I have been so excited about the new Rouge Coco Baume with the white bullet packaging! The entire collection has just launched in January at the Chanel beauty boutique at Britomart and my SA called me about the latest releases along with the new skincare range – N.1 De Chanel. More about that later because I also ordered some items from that.

As usual, I ordered everything via my usual SA Julia, she is such a star. I placed my order on Wednesday and I went in store on Friday after a lunch date with my sisters and was going to see if I could pick it up, but she said it was sent out already. She only works Wednesday-Sunday, but that works for me no problem. I received my parcel on Tuesday and everything was in perfect condition. I asked for some samples of the N.5 body wash and body lotion as well as skincare samples. She gave me some extra samples of the rest of the N.1 collection that I have not purchased which was nice of her.

Besides the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Chanel also launched the La Comète collection which includes 8 Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks and 2 blushes. I have not yet picked up anything from that range yet, and the Chanel beauty boutique in town is only stocking the lipsticks but not the blushes. Let’s move on to the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, shall we?

What I got

I picked up only two of the Rouge Coco Baume lip balms in shade 916 Flirty Coral and 920 In Love ($65 each) from the La Pausa De Chanel Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The range also includes two Blush Lumiere in 777 Brun Roussi and 767 Pêche Rosée, a Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow quad in 747 Mediterraneen, a total of 7 Rouge Coco Baume shades, a Baume Essentiel highlighter stick in 95 Ensoleillé, an Ombre premier laque in 46 Lumiere and two nail polishes in shade 915 Riviera and 917 Terra Rossa.

I haven’t picked up any of the blush Lumiere because the shades were not very appealing. The 777 Brun Roussi is too brown and too deep for my skin tone as a blush, and I already some something similar from Chanel that looks like 767 Pêche Rosée. The only other item I would consider getting is the Ombre Premiere Laque because I have never tried it before. Now, onto the products I got…

Chanel – Spring-Summer 2022 Rouge Coco Baume

How I find it

Originally the Rouge Coco Baume is simply a clear lip balm, but for Spring/Summer 2022, Chanel has added colour to the lip balm turning these into tinted lip balms. They are more nourishing that the Rouge Coco Flash, but less pigmented. Apply one swipe for a sheet wash of colour, 3 swipes for more intensity. These also give you a more shiny, balm-like finish. These new tinted lip balms comes in beautiful white bullet packaging that is limited edition for Spring/Summer (I think), but they are simply gorgeous!

Shade 916 Flirty Coral is a pretty sheer coral shade that makes me feel more youthful, fresh and summery. 920 In Love is a reddish, rosy pink. Other shades from the range are all very wearable shades with a brownish nude, a deeper plum shade and a clear lip balm that contains no shimmer at all. I did a comparison swatch on IG and also still pictures here. In my opinion, the Coco Baume and Coco Flash are very similar. I can also build up the coverage of Flash by applying more swipes and it feels just as hydrating as the baume. But when you reach the Coco Blooms, these are creamier and more pigmented. Then the Rouge Allure are proper lipsticks with full coverage, and different versions will give different finishes.

Overall

Whilst waiting for my order to arrive, I have watched a couple of reviews on YouTube of this collection and I have decided that I won’t be picking up more items from this range. Not because the products are not beautiful, but the shades are either not what I am looking for, or something that I have already. The deeper blush shade looks way too deep as a blush for my skin tone and too purple/red as a contour or bronzer. The peachy blush also looks very similar to what I have already as I have mentioned above. As for the eyeshadow quad, it is a basic neutral colour-story that is easy to find something similar, so I don’t feel like I really need it. As for the ombre premiere laque and nail polishes, they look nice, but not something I would rush to get as well. My favourite would have been the tinted lip balms and I am glad that I got 2 of them to try.

Check out my N.1 de Chanel haul and my review on some of the products in the range!
