Where I got it
Every now and then, Farmers would have gift with purchases for YSL and the offers are usually pretty good. I have seen this offer before, but I only took advantage of it this time because there were two lip products from YSL I recently wanted to try. First is the new Rouge Volupte Candy Glaze Lip balm and the other is the Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Velvet Radical lipstick. They are both $69 each, and the offer was buy any YSL lipstick and get a Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick for free (limited choice in shade, worth $66 each). I made two separates orders so I can get 2 free lipsticks, but that also meant I had to pay shipping twice. This offer is also available in-stores, but I just couldn’t be bothered going in. The items arrived within a week.

What I got
I picked up a Rouge Volupte Candy Glaze lip balm in shade 5 Pink Satisfaction, Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Velvet Radical lipstick in shade 305 Orange Surge. Gift with purchase were Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-stick lipsticks in 82 Orange Crepe and 85 Burgundy Love.
Rouge Volupte Candy Glaze lip balm (5 Pink Satisfaction). Treat your lips with high colour, a glaze of visible shine, and balm-like nourishing care for up to twenty four hours. Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick fuses hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and mango oils into a visible high-shine gloss that melts onto lips. Mango and pomegranate extract add a subtle fragrance with a click format for freshness with each use.
Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Velvet Radical (305 Orange Surge). The Slim Velvet Radical by Yves Saint Laurent are made for those obsessed with matte! Created with comfort as a number one priority, the Slim Velvet Radical was designed using the latest technological breakthroughs. Each element of the formulation was chosen by YSL Beauty’s labs with the utmost precision to give you all-day comfort without compromising on high quality, impactful colour. Designed perfectly for you with a lightweight feeling, long-lasting comfort, silky oils to moisturise your lips & slim square lipstick bullet stick. Encased in a 100% black case, the square-cut bullet design is as practical as it is stylish, enabling the user to draw a square shape at the Cupid’s bow first, which in turn makes it easier to fill in the colour.
Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-stick lipstick (82 Orange Crepe and 85 Burgundy Love). Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick is oil-infused to impart seductive colour and high shine while hydrating your lips. Formulated with 65 percent oils, the deeply hydrating texture instantly melts into lips, creating a pop of colour, instant moisture, and all-day comfort. Antioxidants in natural extracts of pomegranate and rosemary reduce the look of fine lines, while candellila resin forms a thin, protective layer to help lock in moisture and magnify colour and shine. Mineral pigments provide bright, vibrant colour and a melting formula enables smoother glide-on application. Hyaluronic acid spheres hydrate and soften lips to help seal in moisture for up to eight hours of hydration. Infused with Yves Saint Laurent’s additive, signature mango scent, these lipsticks are good enough to eat. Now in 30 shades that in a range of modern neutrals, playful pinks, and intense berries, they’re perfect for every lip mood.
How I find it
Let’s start with the Candy Glaze lip balm. Now I knew they are lip balms with a ultra glossy finish, but I was not expecting a super soft formula! When you watch my reel, you can see that I have made the mistake of twisting the lip balm up too high (maybe 5mm?) and when I swiped it on my wrist with a little bit of pressure, the lip balm melted and I ruined the lip balm just a little bit. I should have read the instructions which tells me to twist it up 6 clicks for one application. 6 clicks would give you approximately 2mm of product and I would now apply gently on the lips. Besides the softness of the formula, the finish is super glossy, almost jelly-like! It has really nice pigment as well so overall looks beautiful and so juicy!
Next, let’s have a look at The Slim Velvet Radical lipstick. It has an entirely different packaging from the Rouge Volupte lipstick and lip balms. The bullet of the lipstick is slim and matte black. The diamond shaped lipstick twists up with a sharp tip to precise application. It has a really comfortable velvety texture with a matte finish. I wouldn’t say it is a drying matte finish, but more of a suede finish. The shade I have chosen has a beautiful orange tone to it which might not be everyone’s cup of tea. When applied sheer – dabbed in the middle and then blended out – it gives that ombre, blotted look and it is more wearable on a daily basis. If I want full-one pigment, I apply a good layer of lip balm that is not glossy or too slippery. Then I simply apply full swipes of the lipstick until I achieved the desired coverage. It is more long-lasting, but it is not budge-proof, so if I wipe my lips, it’s going to wear off, but I still get a good amount of pigment stain on my lips and it’s simply just reapplying over and there is not problem with reapplication.

Overall
I very much enjoy these lipsticks and lip balms and it really reminds me of how gorgeous and nice YSL lipsticks have been. The RVS bullet looks simply stunning and the Slim Velvet lipstick also looks chic and sleek. They are so comfortable to wear and the candy-like scent is just so fun to wear. They RVS are moisturising and pigmented, and the Slim Velvet is creamy with a suede-like finish. I would reach for the Candy Glaze lip balm the most, then probably the Slim Velvet and applying it sheer. Otherwise the classic RVS can also be used on a daily basis, it really depends on the shade that I would use. They are more pigmented and would mostly wear off on my mask.
