傳奇今生 Legend Age Skincare review

Disclaimer: I want to clarify that I am not affiliated to the brand, nor am I a reseller or a representative. I understand that there are heaps of reps and people reselling their products (in Asia and Asian communities) and there appears to be so many rave reviews and unrealistically filtered photos and videos of people using these products. I wanted to give an honest and realistic review (as I always do) and provide more information in English. I wasn’t able to find ingredient lists on the internet (English or Chinese), but I made the effort to translate all the information from the back of the box. I also did not provide any links because I do not want to lead you to any unsafe websites. Please do your own research if you are interested in these products. These products are all made in Guangdong Province, China.

Where I got it

I was exposed to this brand back in 2019 for their lip balm product (see review here and I still use them), then throughout the years, they have developed skincare products. They have a total of 4 skincare products currently I believe and I am reviewing all 4 of them here in this post. **update: they have now launched 3 more products – moisturiser, foundation and eye cream. I have ordered the moisturiser and foundation so I will review them in due course.**

I think you can purchase these products online now, whereas you needed to purchase them via one of their representatives (you can still do that now). I ordered this from a rep and I met her on Facebook. If you do want to order from a rep, you need to make sure she/he is legit so you are not sold counterfeit products because that is really common in Asia.

Anyway, if you want to purchase these, I can refer you to my rep, I don’t get a commission or incentive, but I just want to make it easier for you guys to find a trusted rep. Enough said, let’s get back to the products. They often do special deals where you buy a certain amount and get a free product, etc. In late May, they had an offer of buying any 5 products from their range for NZD$160. Their products range between $42-$47 so you can get a saving of up to $75 and get a free product up to the value of $47. I picked up a cleanser ($45), two emulsions ($47), a sunscreen ($47) and a box of sheet masks ($45).

What I got

The brand name is 傳奇今生 (传奇今生/Legend Age) and I ordered a cleansing mousse (清顏慕斯), two emulsion spray (花漾精華乳), a sunscreen SPF30 (輕透美白防曬霜) and a box of sheet masks (水漾保濕面膜).

Cleansing Mousse (清顏慕斯) (150ml). The latest offering from the Legend Age Group gift us with a make-up removal, Facial Cleansing and Skin Care in one bottle! It can be used to gently remove makeup without harming your skin, provide deep facial cleansing and the removal of all residue; and moisturise and nourishes the skin.

Emulsion spray (花漾精華乳) (100ml). The Legend Age Emulsion Spray is suitable for all skin, and is mainly used to replenish moisture loss on the skin. It offers the triple effects of being a toner, essence, emulsion all in one product. The product is rich in natural extracts like Saccharide Isomerade, Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract and Swiftlet Nest Extract that helps replenish and moisten your dry skin. It has a flowery scent which is made up of 3 notes, with peaches, raspberries and green leaves being the top note, orchids and freesia being the middle note, and rose being the base note. We adopted O/P emulsification technology to concentrate moisturizing ingredients to micro particles that much easier to be absorbed by pore, one step to lock water. This atomization technology improves the skin absorption and  makes each spray on the skin a relaxing SPA experience.

Sunscreen Cream SPF50 PA+++ (輕透美白防曬霜) (30ml). When applied correctly, the Legend Age Sunscreen Cream allows only 2% of UVB rays to reach your skin, offering high UVA protection for your skin. This UVA & UVB double protection that will assist you in the prevention from sunburnt, suntan and ageing of the skin. The cream also prevents skin darkening and enhance skin whitening through added Nicotinamide (vitamin B-3) ingredient.

Advanced Hydrating masks (水漾保濕面膜) (7 pieces). Legend Age Advanced Hydrating Mask is rich in a variety of extracts, providing your skin with nutrients and moisture while bringing hydration and glow to your skin. When applied, the mask serves as a source of concentrated rehydration;  hence, the product is also able to replenish the water loss of the skin due to exposure to the environment and is able to lock in the moisture onto your facial skin.

How I find it

Alright. As you can see, all the text on the packaging are in Chinese (some English), but I was able to find the ingredients list on the Legend Age Global website. I am not exactly sure how accurate it is on the website, because I am uncertain on the laws in China about providing accurate information on their packaging. Moreover, these are no sold in shops in New Zealand, therefore I’m not sure if any constraints are applied to these products because they are in sold in retail. Anyway, let’s talk about my overall experience on these products, and it is a good review.

The Cleansing Mousse is really soft and gentle. The mouse is dense and I would say that it is good only as a second cleanse. This would not remove foundation or concealer, at the most, it would remove my powder blush or highlighter. This would be a great morning cleanse as well because it is non-stripping, balances my skin leaving my skin feeling still slightly hydrated.

After cleansing, I pat dry my skin and then I use the emulsion spray as an emulsion (not as a spray), so I point the spray close to my palm and use about 4-5 sprays. When you dispense it like this, the emulsion wouldn’t run down like water or essence, you can see that it is a milky lotion. It is very lightweight. I spread it between my palms and then apply it onto my skin. It feels really refreshing and watery on the skin. I really enjoy it and my skin feels hydrated and supple. After that, I would use a moisturiser on top.

To use this as a spray, I would use this after cleansing, spraying it directly onto my skin and then applying my actives on top. I could then use it as a hydrating emulsion over the serum. You can also use this as a hydrating spray on the go to boost hydration. My skin immediately feels hydrated, like it’s had a good drink of water. There is a slight fresh scent which is really pleasant. It doesn’t feel sticky or greasy on the skin and does not leave a film on my skin.

Let’s talk about the Sunscreen. Usually Asian sunscreen (especially in China) can be “whitening” and giving that “tone-up” effect that is really sought-after in Asia. I was a little worried that it would give too much of a white-cast on my skin, but when I tried it on the back of my hand, I was pleasantly surprised at how lotion-like and smooth and how invisible it is on my hand. There is absolutely no sign of a white-cast and no stickiness. It also smells quite nice, none of that offensive sunscreen scent. Instead it has a light floral scent. The sunscreen does leave a bit of glow on the skin, but it also settles to a natural finish. I really enjoy this sunscreen for daily use.

And finally, the Hydrating Sheet Masks. These are the most hyped products from them as well as their lip balms. The mask is supposed to be ultra-hydrating and prevent moisture-loss. The mask sheet is really delicate and fine. It has a mesh-like backing sheet and there is plenty of essence in the bag. I had a little trouble opening up the mask sheet because it is folded, but once I got it open and have the correct side on my face (mesh side out), I just peel off the mesh and adjust the mask accordingly. The fit was amazing and it adhered to my skin very very well. There weren’t a lot of excess mask around my face and the eye opening was not too small.

I left it on for at least 15 minutes and removed it. The sheet was still damp, and you can tell the essence has been absorbed into the skin and no evaporated or just dried up. I massage my skin with the essence and then rinse it off. My skin feels really soft and supple, feels hydrated and plump.

 

Overall

I actually really enjoy all of these products. They are generally gentle, hydrating and moisturising. They are not focusing of acids or resurfacing of the skin so these products are great for the skin barrier as well as sensitive skin. However, the products do have fragrance so if you are sensitive to fragrance, this might not be the first choice. I love the hydrating and light texture of the emulsion spray, it is an amazing product for layering under other serums and creams. You can also use this on it’s own by applying 2-3 layers and skip moisturiser altogether. The sunscreen product is also something I really enjoy and would repurchase. It doesn’t leave my skin sticky or with a powdery finish. My skin is hydrated and lightly moisturiser, not a greasy feeling at all. The mask seemed nice, but it’s not amazing so I would keep using it to see best results. At least it is not clogging my pores or cause breakouts.

I will definitely repurchase most of these products in the future and I can’t wait to try out the moisturiser and foundation! Stay tuned for my review on those!
