Where I got it
Not sure if you are getting sick of these little Chanel hauls anymore, but whenever there is VIP event at Chanel, my SA Julia would let me know via text and I could order items online. The VIP events are basically when they have gift with purchases, or special events where you can go into the store for a makeup application, or a skincare treat and then they treat you to little gifts when you make a purchase. I’m not entirely sure what they do now in stores, because I hardly go in anymore. I just have no time, and if I do have to go in, I have to take a day off work just to make a trip and that’s not really worth it unless they have limited edition items that they cannot allocate for me (I am not a real VIP).
So this year during Valentine’s day, they were offering chocolates as well as a free gift with purchase for over $150 spend. The GWP is a beautiful little faux leather makeup pouch – just like the one I had in this post, but in white instead of black. This one here also says skincare at the front. The black one was offered near the Christmas period and between that and this one, they also had a red pouch which is the same pouch we see from skincare/makeup sets Chanel were offering during Christmas. We did not get any of these sets in New Zealand, so getting one as GWP was quite nice.
I picked up two items and my SA posted everything off in a large box with a total of 3 paper bags and 2 boxes to protect everything including the chocolates.

What I got
As you can see in the photo above, I have bought the Gabrielle Chanel Foaming Shower Gel as well as the La Mousse Cleansing Cream-to-Foam. I initially wanted to purchase the No.5 Shower Gel because it was more iconic and the fragrance in a shower gel or body lotion is much more acceptable and easier on the nose than the perfume itself. If you haven’t tried their shower gel or body lotion in the No.5 fragrance, I would highly recommend you giving it a go. However, Julia told me they ran out of the shower gel and are waiting for new stock to come through. I know that Smith & Caughey’s stocks the shower gel, but I have become quite loyal to Julia and will be purchasing from her with no intention of going anywhere else at the moment. Therefore I went for the Gabrielle because I actually do enjoy this fragrance and I thought a shower gel would be a nice addition to my collection!
Gabrielle Chanel Foaming Shower Gel ($109 for 200ml). Description: Perfumed with the floral notes of the GABRIELLE CHANEL fragrance, the foaming shower gel leaves the body subtly scented. A light, fluid texture that transforms into a fine lather in contact with water. A delicate gesture to heighten the intensity of this solar fragrance. Composition: A foaming gel with the purely floral notes of the GABRIELLE CHANEL fragrance, housed in an identical bottle. A solar flower based on a bouquet of 4 white flowers: a creamy and enveloping heart of exotic jasmine, shimmering with the fruity green notes of ylang-ylang. Then the fresh and sparkling orange blossom shines through, offering a glimpse of Grasse tuberose captured in its finest dress.

La Mousse Cleansing Cream-to-Foam ($79 for 150ml). LA MOUSSE deeply cleanses and purifies the skin. It frees it from impurities, such as pollutants, dust, sweat and excess sebum, while removing traces of makeup. On contact with water, the rich cream texture transforms into a generous, enveloping foam. This indispensable step becomes a pure moment of well-being and leaves skin clean, soft and comfortable. The complexion glows with freshness.

I also picked up the La Mousse Cleanser because everyone who talks about Chanel skincare, they would mention this cleanser as a really gentle and effective foaming cleanser. It is
How I find it
Let’s start with the Gabrielle Chanel Foaming Shower Gel. The shower gel comes in a beautiful thin plastic bottle with the square screw-top lid. The entire bottle echoes the perfume bottle of Gabrielle Chanel. The shower gel is quite fluid and light within the bottle and it is such a beautiful piece to be in the shower. A little goes a long way with these shower gels, I have tried the No.5 shower gel as well and that is also quite runny, but a little does create a good lather and spreads really well. You can instantly smell the fragrance and enjoy it in the shower. It rinses of easily and the scent lingers on the skin, but just lightly. You would need to be very close to me to smell it. If you are looking for a longer-lasting scent on the skin, the body lotion would be great as well. I won’t be using this shower gel every day, but probably weekly, or whenever I feel like it.
And for the La Mousse Cleanser, the cream-to-foam cleanser is really creamy to start with. It reminds me of classic Shiseido foaming cleansers. They have a slightly pearly sheen outlook and lathers easily with a little bit of water. While the texture is not exceptionally luxurious, I would say a little of this cleanser goes a long way and it does cleanse the skin well without stripping the skin. I would highly recommend this cleanser for oily skin or combination skin. However, if you have dry skin I would recommend either cleansing water instead.
Overall
I am very happy with my little haul, I really enjoy both products I bought. $109 for a bottle of shower gel is quite expensive and I would save this for occasions and when I want to pamper myself. Of course, you don’t need a fancy shower gel to cleanse your body, but if you want to treat yourself and can afford it, go for it! The cleanser works great for my skin and again, there are more affordable foaming cleansers out there and you don’t need to buy this Chanel one. I would repurchase this cleanser if it works for my skin, otherwise I would explore something else if other products attracts my attention.
In addition the products I have bought, I noticed the amount of samples has reduced significantly from my early days of ordering. I do note that my order amount is lower in most recent hauls (spending about 50% less than I did when I first started). Also I have been given a lot of skincare samples already and I also have no specifically ask for skincare samples. I have been asking for more perfume samples instead. I know that if I ask Julia for skincare samples, she would give me a couple. I know that Chanel is launching new lipsticks and highlighter very soon (Le Blanc collection) and when I order those in, I will ask for skincare samples.
