Where I got it
Just over a month ago, I received a PR email for Boost Lab for the launch of their Skincare advisor tool. It is an online tool using photos and a short questionnaire to determine the best Boost Lab skincare products for your skin concern. It asks for your skin type, skin concerns, etc. It is a quick and fun little tool that gives you a score under a number of different areas – texture, dullness, skin tone, hyperpigmentation, radiance, etc. I was recommended 3 serums – Eye Reset Serum, Vitamin C Brightening Serum and Vitamin B3 Blemish Rescue Serum. I also bought the 2D-Hyaluronic Hydro Boost Serum. They are all $34.95 each and you can get these on their website www.boostlab.co.nz as well as Farmers. They also have 3 other serums – retinol serum, AHA resurfacing serum and a peptide serum.
What I got
I was sent the Eye Reset Serum, Vitamin C Brightening Serum and Vitamin B3 Blemish Rescue Serum (all 30ml). Boost Lab is an entirely carbon neutral company and they partner with Trace to help offset the carbon footprint for their engtire business. They are also totally Cruelty-Free which means none of their products or individual ingredients has been tested on animals. All their serums are only $34.95 and you can get bundles to save money.

How I find it
First of all, these serums can be used in the same routine or along with your existing skincare products. For this Vitamin B3 serum, I easily incorporated this with my day and night skincare routine after my toner. I have been using a hydrating toner lately during the day so after the toner, I would use just shy of a full pipette of this serum all over my face. This serum is lightweight and gel-like. It’s not a thick gel, more like a watery gel and it spreads easily on my skin. I love spraying my face with thermal water spray before I apply the serum so the serum is easily absorbed. I let the serum settle just a little bit and then I spray my skin again to keep it damp for my next serum/moisturiser.
I have been using the Vitamin C serum mostly during the day after the Vit B3 because a vitamin C serum works well with sunscreen to fight free radicals. But you can also use this at night. I chose not to because I already have quite a lot happening in my nightime routine and I don’t want to overload my skin. This serum has slight whiteish colour and is a little thicker than Vit B3. This serum is also very nice on the skin and it leaves no burden on the skin. No stickiness or film over the top. It gets absorbed instead of just sitting on top of the skin.
The Eye Reset serum is a very lightweight, almost watery serum for the eye area that I believe will not cause millia. I use only one drop of this for both eyes and I give my eye area a gentle massage. I am not a big advocate for eye serums or eye creams but I do have a tendancy to have congested skin and I do prefer something lightweight and oil-free around my eye area because I do have oily eyelids as well and I don’t need extra moisture around the area. I also need some depuffing and lifting for the eye area where I need more blemish help on my face so I do want to target this area differently.
Overall
I’m very happy with both the vitamin B3 and vitamin C serum as I have started seeing results from them and I love their texture. Active, surface blemishes on my skin have significantly reduced and my overall skin tone looks more even. Now I do have these really deep-seated, cystic pimples around my jawline area which are caused by hormonal imbalance and these are really difficult to get rid of. I have been using tretinoin every night to help treat these breakouts, so those would take longer to improve. But I would say the serum did help with white-headed pimples and blackheads.
I also saw improvements from the Vitamin C serum where I have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It is a slow process but this serum is definitely something I can use in the long run to keep improving pigmentation and this is easy to incorporate into my existing skincare routine. Vitamin C will also boost the efficacy of sunscreen by fighting free radicals. With continued use of Vitamin C and sunscreen, you will delay the effects of sun damage like pigmentation, premature ageing and environmental damage.
As for the eye serum, I have yet to see significant results besides a bit of hydration around the eye area, but it is quite temporary. I like the lightweight texture of this serum, and I will continue to use this until it is finished. So hopefully at the end of the bottle (will probably take me more than 6 months to finish this), I will be able to give an overview on IG.
