Chanel L’Huile Camélia Hydrating and Fortifying Oil

Where I got it

Just out of the blue, I decided to pick this up because I have been painting my nails at home and I have noticed that my cuticles are so dead and dry they look horrible! I always hide them from photos and videos because I simply cannot look at them at all. I am a working mum looking after 2 kids and I do all the cooking at home and hubby and I do washing up together. We hate wearing gloves for washing the dishes so that’s probably not the best thing. But I try to put on hand cream and cuticle oil whenever I remember to. I have different hand creams scattered around the house to make sure I have one close by when I need it. I have the Chanel “egg” hand cream in my room so I do love that. It is not a thick, balmy hand cream, but it is very nice.

So this cuticle oil is $57 and it contains 11ml of product which is not the most affordable cuticle oil out there, but it does feel and look luxurious.

What I got

This is the Chanel L’Huile Camélia Hydrating and Fortifying Oil (11ml). An essential nail treatment that moisturizes cuticles and helps keep them from drying out. Featuring repairing and smoothing properties, the formula reduces the appearance of imperfections on nails by 21%* after 1 month of use. Nails are also stronger, are less prone to breakage, and look 40%* shinier.

How I find it

I absolutely love the frosted tube with a hint of pink colour It is a squeezy tube with a twist-open lid. I was expecting the applicator tip to be soft, but it is actually hard, so you can apply the oil to the nail area, but massage with it. Therefore I have been squeezing the product out onto my fingertips and then I massage the oil on my nail bed and cuticles. I religiously use this after my shower at night and would not wash my hands for a good 1-2 hours to let it fully sink in. Otherwise, I would apply it when I paint my nails at home and when it is fully dried. It feels moisturizing and oily when you apply it, but as soon as you wash your hands, it seems to disappear. I’m not sure if it means that it is absorbed into the cuticles or that it is really easily washed off, but it definitely doesn’t leave an oily or greasy film on the nails/fingers.

I can see a good improvement in the skin around my fingers, but I also need to give credit to the hand cream and slugging I do at night for my hands and feet. I feel that just cuticle oil is probably not going to do a lot of help, but a combination of moisture and occlusives to the skin will help. The skin around my fingers is not peeling anymore and I’m very happy.

Overall

Overall I do love this product if I were to use cuticle oil and I would repurchase this when I do run out. I love the packaging of the tube, I love the smell and I love the moisture. Before the Chanel cuticle oil, I used the L’Occitane cuticle oil and that is very much a treat at $29 for 7.5ml and I would repurchase that as well. They come in the shea butter scent which is a staple product in their range, otherwise, they do have seasonal scents from time to time. I have the Rose Jasmin scent and that smells really nice but strong.
