Where I got it
I recently picked up the L’huile Camelia cuticle oil along with the N°5 L’Eau Fresh Lotion and this N°5 The Shower Gel via my SA at Chanel Beauty in Auckland. The shower gel is $109 and is also available at Smith & Caughey’s. But most of the time I get my Chanel products via my SA because she gives me lots of samples and I believe in building a good relationship with her so she will offer me first dips in limited edition products, extra samples, etc. Check out my unboxing reel on my IG to see what little freebies I’ve got and don’t forget to check out the other items I picked up as well.
What I got
This is the Chanel N°5 The Shower Gel (200ml). Housed in a transparent, pink-tinted bottle, the N°5 shower gel is applied easily thanks to the new Twist and Slide cap, a mechanism exclusive to CHANEL. To open the bottle, simply twist the cap counter-clockwise. Its creamy, foaming texture lightly scents the skin and leaves it velvety soft.
Ingredients: AQUA (WATER) • SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE • PARFUM (FRAGRANCE) • COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE • PPG-26-BUTETH-26 • PROPYLENE GLYCOL • LAURYL GLUCOSIDE• PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL • PEG-3 DISTEARATE POLYQUATERNIUM-10 • SODIUM BENZOATE • SODIUM CHLORIDE • LINALOOL • LIMONENE • COUMARIN • SODIUM CITRATE • CITRIC ACID • GLYCERIN • ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE • BENZYL ALCOHOL • CITRONELLOL • HYDROXY-CITRONELLAL • CINNAMYL ALCOHOL • COCONUT ACID • BENZOIC ACID • GERANIOL • EUGENOL • HEXYL CINNAMAL • BENZYL BENZOATE • BENZYL SALICYLATE • PHYTICACID • ISOEUGENOL
How I find it
Simple as it is, this is just a shower gel and I need to explain how I use a shower gel. But let’s talk about the packaging, the texture, and the scent of this. This is a 200ml bottle with the twist and slide cap which you will never lose or drop the cap, but at the same time, it can get a little messy under the cap. The bottle is plastic so it’s relatively safe to use in the shower. The shower gel has a pale pearlescent pink colour to it. Chanel does have a bath gel which is different from this one and has a black cap instead of a white cap. The texture of this shower gel is fluid and slightly viscous and it lathers up pretty well.
Overall
I love the gentle scent of this shower gel of the iconic N°5 perfume but in a less intense way. The scent lingers on the skin and you can smell it within 1-2 hours of showering and after that, you will still be able to smell it directly on the skin. Skin feels clean after a shower, but not particularly hydrated, so I could use a moisturiser afterward. Chanel does have a N°5 Body Lotion you can layer after a shower to further intensify the fragrance.
I can’t deny that I love having this in my collection as it looks so good on display. As always, the dispensing design is not something I love because it leaves the opening a little messy. I would have preferred just a simple twist open lid or one of those that you twist the lid and it reveals a hole to dispense product so you won’t lose the lid. I guess that’s all I have to say about this shower gel, it’s just a simple, perfumed shower gel that looks great on display (lol).
