Where I got it
As early as August, we have been seeing this Miss Dior Millefiori collection all over Instagram. We know that this is a Spring/Summer collection for 2022 and it is featured around Miss Dior the EDP. A couple of times a year, Dior makes these limited edition Dior Addict lipstick cases as collector’s items. This collection has 2 styles, both with a fabric background – one with a white background with dainty floral decorations (Millefiori), and the other is the same material of the ribbon around a Miss Dior perfume bottle (Miss Dior). Other items in this collection also include 2 shades of Dior Addict Lipstick (#1947 Miss Dior and #856 Defile), an eyeshadow quint (#1947), a scented candle, bath pearls, scented bath tablets, limited edition loose powder cushion compact. I know that some countries have slightly more items in the collection including an additional mirror-finish lipstick case as well as a limited edition packaging Miss Dior perfume. However, we do have the Lip Glow in #1947 and Rouge Dior Velvet in #1947 Miss Dior as part of this collection in Australia and New Zealand that I don’t see promoted elsewhere in UK and US.
Anyway, I knew that I would like to pick up the Millefiori lipstick case (floral one), but not the Miss Dior one. I was also on the fence about the scented candle. I ended up getting the case from a Japan-based buyer because I wasn’t sure if we would get it in New Zealand at all (but we did very soon after I ordered). I also ordered the #856 Dior Addict lipstick from Japan as well which is not available on the Dior.co.nz website and not available in the Auckland store. I also picked up the Rouge Dior Velvet lipstick in #1947.
Sorry about the long-winded story about what I bought and where I got them from, but in summary, I picked up just a couple of items. The prices of these items will be mentioned below.
What I got
The items I picked up from this collection were: Dior Addict Lipstick case in Millefiori ($48), Dior Addict Lipstick in #856 Defile ($69), Miss Dior Scented Candle ($94) and a Lip Glow in #1947 Miss Dior ($67). I don’t know much about the history of the Miss Dior perfume, but I do know that Dior launches limited edition makeup a couple of times a year. I was not particularly interested in Miss Dior, so I decided not to purchase the bath tablets or bath pearls. I didn’t want to spend so much money on this collection because I am more eager to shop some of the holiday collections.
Let’s start with the Miss Dior Scented Candle (85g – approx. 24hr burn time). Miss Dior inaugurates its first scented candle that recreates the fresh and floral notes of the fragrance. Once the candle is lit, and for 24 hours of burning time, the trail of Miss Dior unfurls in delicate swirls of smoke. Captured in the scent of the Miss Dior Scented Candle, the couture spirit of Miss Dior is diffused with elegance in your home. In addition to its case, the ceramic Miss Dior candle holder is decorated with the delicate and poetic couture millefiori motif. A sophisticated scented object that brings an elegant touch to the everyday.
Next is the Rouge Dior Velvet lipstick (#1947 Miss Dior) (3.5g). Enhance your lips with a couture colour lipstick featuring a bullet engraved with a limited-edition millefiori floral motif. Refillable lipstick. Infused with extracts of red peony and pomegranate flower, the Millefiori limited edition Rouge Dior enhances the lips in the exclusive shade* 1947 Miss Dior. The name of this velvet-finish rosewood lipstick echoes the creation date of Miss Dior.
Then we have the Lip Glow in #1947 Miss Dior (3.2g). The 1st Dior lip balm formulated with 97% natural-origin ingredients** that subtly revives the natural colour of lips with a custom glow for 6h*** and hydrates lips for 24h.* A new couture case, a unique**** formula made with natural-origin ingredients infused with cherry oil, and shades to suit all skin tones: the essential Dior Addict Lip Glow lip balm has been reinvented with an as always sensorial texture for lips that are both beautified and protected from dryness. Multi-use, Dior Addict Lip Glow can be worn on its own as a lip balm or as a primer under lipstick.
Now we have the Dior Addict lipstick and limited edition Millefiori case (#856 Defile) (3.2g). Dior Addict is the Dior shine lipstick designed like a fashion accessory, with a formula now composed of 90%* natural-origin ingredients, housed in an ultra-couture and refillable case. Intense colour and shine with a vinyl effect, 24h** hydration and 6h*** wear, a formula infused with jasmine floral wax with hydrating properties: Dior Addict lipstick enhances the lips in bright and luminous shades with sensational shine. In its black vinyl lacquered case embossed with the Dior Oblique logo – an echo to the House’s fashion creations – and topped with a silver pearl, the Dior Addict shine lipstick combines simplicity with elegance. Refillable, it slips into this timeless sleeve or one of the couture cases inspired by the Dior runway show designs each season: like a real wardrobe, the refillable lipstick case is available in Indigo Denim, Pink Cannage and Metallic Silver versions, as well as two limited edition Miss Dior Millefiori Boutique inspired versions. As part of the eco-design initiative led by Dior, the new shine lipstick icon is refillable to reduce its environmental impact. The black version uses some 34% less fossil fuels, 36% less greenhouse gases, and 47% less water**** to produce.
How I find it
As usual, I love Dior’s Lip Glow formula and this rose-wood shade that is #1947 Miss Dior is really pretty. This shade is subtle on the lips, but you can get a bit more intensity if you apply a few layers. I love moisturising this lip balm is with a hint of colour. Another shade I love is Dior 8 which is slightly more intense in colour, but still looks really natural. Lips feel moisturised and comfortable. Basically, I love all the Lip Glow colours that I own so far.
Next, let’s have a look at the Rouge Dior Velvet, also in #1947 Miss Dior. As you can see the shade is very similar to the bullet, but when you apply it on the skin/lips, it is quite different. The Rouge Dior has a slightly more beige tone to it. The lipstick has a really good colour pay-off with a velvet soft texture. The finish is a creamy matte that looks amazing when I blend the edges with my fingertips. Now, the Velvet version is not something I have a lot in my collection, but I would say I don’t think it is a particularly dry or matte finish. It feels creamy and comfortable on the lips. It is far from the dry-down that Rouge Dior Forever would give, but this would certainly look petal-soft on the lips.
Lastly, the Dior Addict lipstick in 856 Defile is an entirely different tone of colour. It is a bright pinkish red with a glossy finish. It is highly pigmented and has a glossy finish. I would say this shade is not my everyday lip colour and probably not my first choice for a nighttime lip colour as well. It is a little too pink/raspberry, but I would see myself wearing this for a daytime girl’s date or something. I would love to get this in shade #1947 if I could get my hands on it because the formula is nice and the finish is nice, I just prefer this shade.
Overall
Besides the less-than-desirable colour choice of Dior Addict lipstick, I am very happy with the overall Millefiori haul. The #1947 Miss Dior shade is beautiful and I truly hope this could become a permanent shade. The perfumed candle is cute but small. Personally, I don’t mind small candles because I don’t burn candles frequently, so this cute little one would look great on my vanity and if I need to burn something to get my room smelling nice, this would be a great option. As for the Dior Addict lipstick case, I absolutely love it and would definitely use it more when I have a shade that I love (can you believe I don’t have any Dior Addict lipsticks?!).
The Dior holiday collection is already approaching and we are already seeing the advent calendars available along with their iconic Minaudiere clutch and full-face palettes. This year, the clutch is a piano black clutch so it is quite chic and easy to wear compared to the gold one last year. From last year’s post on the clutch set I paid a total of NZD$424 for this because I paid for a personal shopper in the US to purchase this for me. This year, we have Dior.co.nz selling these for $415 right now. I already know that I won’t be purchasing this year’s clutch set so I won’t be reviewing it on my blog.
