Where I got it
I picked this up from my local Farmers as they were doing double points as well as a gift with purchase for all purchases over $145. This serum comes in 2 sizes – 30ml and 50ml and they are $143 and $200 respectively. I have seen this brightening serum so much in the Little Red Book, being loved by a lot of Asian beauty lovers. They claim that this serum has been repurchased again and again for its amazing brightening results. I am very intrigued and determined to try it! I usually purchase Clarins products from Life Pharmacy and Farmers when they have a gift with purchase as well as double points offer.

How I find it
It has been a while since I last bought new skincare from Clarins, not because I don’t like them, but because I have tried most of their products suitable for my skin type and they haven’t had any new products lately. Come summer and I noticed my skin has tanned with a couple of dark spots lurking underneath. I remember seeing posts from the Little Red Book about this Clarins serum and thought that’s exactly what I need. I started adding this serum into my day and night skincare routine, right after my toner. I use a full dropper of serum and maybe a little bit more because the dropper mechanism wasn’t very easy to use. The serum has the same scent as the rest of the Bright Plus range – a light floral scent. The milky serum has a nice thickness and provides light hydration to the skin. The milky serum sinks in with a light moisturised feeling on the skin and I would say it’s not something that I would put a watery essence over the top. If I have any watery essences, I would apply it before this serum. Then I would apply moisturiser and SPF during the day, or tretinoin and moisturiser at night.
Overall
I have been using this religiously – day and night for just over 3 weeks and I can see an overall evening of my skintone. My skin looked brighter overall, but upon close inspection I do still see my acne scarring and pigmentation from years ago. I do not expect to see all these go away with just 3 weeks of use, but I do expect to see improvements in the next 3 weeks of use. I do expect to use another bottle of this once I finish my first bottle. I am very hopeful of this product as I am already seeing improvements.
The only down side of this serum is the bottle size and dropper design which is not very ergonomic. I would prefer a pump bottle for convenience as well as hygenic reasons. I think a 50ml bottle will eventually last me just over a month becuase I use a full dropper twice a week.
$200 a month may be a little expensive, but at the moment if it works, I’m all for it. After a second bottle, I will try something else to compare effectiveness. Shiseido and Keihl’s both have really highly rated dark-spot/brightening serums.
