Where I got it
I was at the Chanel beauty boutique at Britomart the other day when Julia invited me over for a little makeover event where they were offering VIP clients for these Chanel hair pin gifts. They have only received 20 of these to give to clients as gift with purchase (min $200 purchase). These hair pins were part of the promo for the Coco Mademoiselle Hair Perfume repackaging. The makeup event focuses on the makeup of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle’s new face – Actress Whitney Peak. Her makeup is smokey with a red lip and pink cheeks.

While I was there, I was treated to a hot cup of tea from the cafe next door and I was also shown the soon-to-be-released Spring/Summer 2023 makeup collection. Yes! The large face and eye palettes, as well as the red mascara and the sheer red baume essentiel as well as the rose gold eyeliner and two red-toned nail polish. This collection really intrigued me and I thought the red is soft and subtle. Not too bold and siren-like. It is a warm red instead of a cool red which can be quite formal. Julia told me I was the first person she has shown this collection to and was offered to put away whichever product I wanted to purchase. I have asked her to put away one of the palettes ($177), the Baume essentiel ($85), and one of the nail polishes ($50) and I will pay for them over the phone on Sunday 2nd April (day of the launch).

Anyway, during this trip to Chanel, I picked up their new Chance Body Cream ($167) as well as a Stylo Sourcils Waterproof (Defining Longwear Eyebrow Pencil) in 818 Brun Noir ($68) and the Le Liner de Chanel (Liquid Eyeliner High Precision Longwear) in 512 Noir Profond ($72). I was given skincare samples from the Sublimage range and some perfume samples.

What I got
This is the Chanel Chance Body Cream (150g). A body cream scented with the floral-spicy notes of the CHANCE fragrance, housed in an elegant jar made of glass and aluminium. Its smooth, rich, fresh formula delivers comfort and hydration to the skin and leaves it delicately scented. Pink pepper, jasmine and amber patchouli are intertwined in this moisturising body cream. In turn floral, spicy, sensual and rich, it is an unpredictable, elusive, ever-changing fragrance. Just like chance.

Chance Chanel Body Cream
How I find it
This is not a brand-new product or limited edition, it is just a repackaging of the existing product and will be a permanent product at Chanel. I have not purchased or used the original body cream so I cannot compare them, but the updated packaging looks quite similar, but with a more modern edge. Eau Tendre was also available at the time ( Eau Fraiche has also been repackaged, but is not yet available). Even though Eau Tendre smells nice as well, it was very mild and I could hardly smell anything after an hour of application on the back of my hand. I wouldn’t want to purchase an expensive perfumed body cream that does not last, so I went for the original Chance version.
Chance Chanel Body Cream
The body cream is thick and feels creamy on the skin. It smells just like the Chance perfume so if you love the perfume, this would be great for layering that fragrance. I usually like to apply a bit of perfumed body cream on my torso and arms at night so I smell lovely but not too intense. During the day, the body cream and fragrance will stay on the skin under clothing, even when I remove a jacket. When I a perfume, I would spray it on my clothing and it would fade relatively fast.
Overall
I did not intend to purchase this body cream before I came into the store, but upon smelling it on my skin, I really grew to like it. I have a good collection of perfumed body creams and lotions for now and I really should slow down for now. The body cream is really moisturising so I don’t need ot use a lot to cover my body. I love applying this to my arms and torso mainly so I can smell it. It is also not strong to the point that my kids or husband would find overpowering. This is what I love about perfumed body lotions, they smell nice and are not overpowering and they are great to travel with if you put them in a little pot. Reapply as often as you wish!
