Where I got it
I picked this up from Mecca about a month ago (April) since there was a Beauty Loop Box to pick up. I have loved my Rose Inc Cream Blush that I bought previously so I decided to try her highlighter as well. As soon as I posted this purchase on IG story, I was told that Mecca has a recent price increase (2023) and it was pretty significant. I then did a bit of research on the price of the item I bought before the price increase, and the current price. Most of the items had a 20-27% price increase. For example, the Rose Inc Cream Blush I bought before was NZD$49, now it is NZD$62. The Serum Foundation was $80 but it is now $95.
I have been told that people are turning to SpaceNK for some of these brands available at Mecca, but some brands do not ship to NZ and of course fragrances are highly restricted as well. I’m not happy about this, but in some cases, there’s nothing much I can do except for doing my research well to see where I’m not getting ripped off. Honestly, I have been seeing my local Mecca to be quite quiet and without customers most of the time.
What I got
This is the Rose Inc Solar Radianace Cream Highlighter in Opalescent (5g). A revolutionary highlighting and skin-smoothing hybrid, this velvet-soft cream illuminates the complexion with sheer radiance while nourishing the skin. The hydrating formula effortlessly glides over the high points of the face to build natural-looking luminosity without settling into pores or fine lines. Sea holly cells help increase skin firmness, rose extract brightens visibly uneven skin tone and squalane provides weightless hydration. Buildable and seamless, four flattering shades enhance every skin tone with a lit-from-within glow.
How I find it
The cream highlighter has a sleek compact packaging with magnetic closure (which became broken after a few uses, I will mention this further down). The compact has a small mirror as well and I have been using my fingers and a dense brush to apply this cream highlighter. I picked opalescent as it is a safe shade for my skin tone (Asian, yellow undertone). I have light/fair skin usually so this shade would look pretty flattering and not too cool or warm. The highlighter gives a beautiful sheen on the skin and it’s not a shimmery glow or a glassy glow on the skin.
Overall
I absolutely adore this cream highlighter! This shade is so easy to wear and compliments all of my blush combinations. It is on the cooler side of the spectrum but once it is on the skin, it doesn’t look like a strip or patch of white area on my skin, it just blends in. The cream texture of this highlighter is also very easy to blend and it is pretty hard to get it wrong. I used to apply cream products with fingertips, but I find that using a flat-top kabuki brush was actualyl easier and blends out so much better! Fingertips might pick up more product, but it doesn’t deposit product out evenly as a brush can IMO.
