Antipodes Skincare Anoint H2O De-puffing Eye Gel and Baptise Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel

Where I got it

I was sent these beautiful products from Antipodes Skincare team as press samples. They have just launched a new de-puffing eye gel which I am very excited about! The new eye gel Anoint is a nice complementary product to their Baptise Ultra-hydrating Water Gel – they both have matching colours too, how pretty is that! The blue/green colour immediately gives me deep hydration vibes. I have not tried Baptise before but it was definitely one of the new products from Antipodes Skincare I have wanted to try. Within the last 3-5 years Antipodes Skincare has launched quite a lot of new products whilst keeping their best-selling products at the same time. The brand now has a wide range of skincare products suitable for most skin types. So proud of them and I am very happy to be using their products again.

Anoint and Baptise are readily available on their online store as well as in places like Chemist Warehouse, Farmers, Life Pharmacies, etc. Anoint is $59 and Baptise is $52 on the Antipodes website. Currently, Anoint is exclusively available at Antipodesnature.com and Farmers, but Chemist Warehouse do sell Antipodes products at a much lower price and they always have sales.

What I got

I was sent the Anoint H2O De-Puffing Eye Gel (30ml) as well as the Baptise H2O Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel (60ml). Both of these products focus on hydration. With all Antipodes Skincare products packaging, you can see some kind of clinical test results of the product. For example, Anoint is clinically shown to increase skin hydration by 39% after 24 hours. The Baptise Water Gel is clinically shown to increase skin hydration by 52% after 24 hours. If you go to their website, they have a lot of useful information about their products as well.

How I find it

Upon the first touch of the eye gel, I can tell that it is going to be a very fresh-feeling product on the skin. This one is going to be amazing on the eye area, especially on summer days and if you’ve had difficulties with milia growing around the eye area from heavier creams. The eye gel has a pale caramel colour, similar to their Vitamin C moisturiser and gold eye cream. I am unable to find any shimmer particles within this eye gel, so it is not a cosmetically brightening product.

The eye gel was a little difficult to pick up with fingertips direct from the jar because it was quite watery and non-sticky. I prefer picking this up with a little spatula to make it easier. The product glides onto the skin easily and instantly melts down. With a bit of massaging, the product sinks into the skin fully and I can’t feel it on the surface anymore.

As soon as I open up the jar of water gel I was welcomed by this glistening pinky gel with a lovely light rose scent. The translucent gel feels fresh on the skin but I also experienced a tiny bit of tingle. I had a look at the ingredients and I couldn’t figure out what was causing that tingle. However, it quickly subsided without causing any redness or irritation.

The only issue I find with this type of water-gel moisturiser is that they contain a film-forming/binding agent called sodium acrylates copolymer which is a texture enhancer to give you that gel texture with a film finish over the skin. This water gel contains this ingredient as the second ingredient which is pretty high up on the list. It is non-irritating to my skin, but I have to be mindful of how much I apply because it will dry down to a sticky film on the skin and can be difficult to dry down completely. If you are wary of this finish/feeling on the skin, you will need to check out the ingredients list first.

Overall

In general, I really enjoy the experience of these two products. They are refreshing, hydrating, lightweight on the skin and smells amazing (Baptise only). However, I do find that both of these products would benefit someone with younger skin that probably doesn’t have a lot of moisture loss or fine lines, etc. issues. Skin types that really only needs lightweight hydration and that’s about it. The Anoint is really great for all skin types and can be used throughout the year, but I also want something to target the fine lines around my eye area and I need something more potent, and maybe a little bit more moisturising at nighttime. I also have their Vitamin C eye cream which I prefer over this in the long run.

As for the Baptise Water Gel, the same concept goes. If you don’t have a lot of issues with your skin, a water gel might solve most of your problems without being heavy or greasy. But my skin needs something more – moisture, lifting, resurfacing, revitalizing, etc. You get what I mean. I suppose this water gel would be great during summer when I’m washing my face in the middle of the day because I got too hot and sweaty.
