NARS Afterglow Liquid Blush

Where I got it

I was simply browsing around Mecca one afternoon to see what’s new and I was feeling like buying something. I haven’t really gotten into NARS products, but it is a brand that many people find really reliable and easy to use. I have only ever used their blushes and lip products, but I have yet to try their best-selling Sheer Glow foundation. I will try it one day, but I have too many foundations to finish. I saw their new liquid blush and it comes in these square cylinder tubes which I thought was quite cool.

It comes in 6 shades and they are NZS$54 each on Mecca Beauty.

What I got

How I find it

I love all kinds of blush and when it comes to liquid blush or cream blushes, they are my weakness! The formula of this liquid blush is really light and fresh on the skin. Orgasm is a peachy pink with gold shimmer. If you are familiar with the original Orgasm blush, you know what this would look like. I could dot this directly to my cheeks and just blend it out with my fingertips, otherwise, I could put it on the back of my hand and work from there – fingertips or with a brush. The pigmentation is really good, but it is still blendable so I won’t get patches of blush that would not blend. I love to use this when I’m going for the sort of dewy, moisturised skin look.

Once I have a good base down and let that set down for just a little bit, my blush applies easily. All you need is about 2 small dots on each cheek, so this little bottle should last me a VERY LONG TIME.  I usually don’t touch my face right after I’ve applied makeup, but during the day I’ve touched my face a couple of times and the blush stays on quite well. It didn’t sink into my pores or lines and just left my skin looking like a natural flush instead of like a patch of blush.

For placement of blush, I like to start from the centre of my cheeks, then up and outwards, and I always add a little bit on the bridge of my nose because it gives me that almost sun-burnt, natural flush look. It looks more youthful I think (lol). The blush also comes in Brazen, Behave, Wanderlust, Dolce Vita, Insatiable, and Orgasm. All of these are popular shades within NARS and they come in blushes and lipsticks. It looks like Behave and Dolce Vita are pretty good-selling shades as they were both sold out when I was in the store.

Overall

I have tried a couple of items from their Afterglow range and I loved the hydration and juicy glow that it gives. The lip balm and this liquid blush give me a really nice overall glow that is not glossy. The liquid blush is so easy to use and buildable, that I could top it up on the run and just blend with my fingers. The shade Orgasm is a fail-safe option and I think Behave (mauve-pink) would also suit a lot of skin tones. Personally, I want to try Wanderlust which is a soft lilac that would tune down the yellow tones in my skin and brighten my skin as well. Lilac blushes are actually very popular in Asia to give that ethereal glow to fair skin.
