Where I got it
This Les Beiges collection has launched earlier than usual. Previously, the Les Beiges collection launched in Spring in the US (northern hemisphere). For us in New Zealand, it is full-on Summer in December-January. I started seeing these collection photos in mid-December on Instagram and then first-impression videos on YouTube. Julia told me it would launch just after the New Year and she gave me a call on 2nd January to order my items.
She did give me a list of prices of the new items and we have quite a handful of new products this year. For the Les Beiges collection, we have the Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow in Cool* ($128), 3 Healthy Winter Glow Blush shades* ($120), 3 Rouge Coco Baume shades* ($69), 2 Le Vernis shades* ($53), and 3 Healthy Glow Primer shades* ($94). Other items not from the collection are 3 No1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm shades ($95), No1 de Chanel Revitalising Mask ($171), 2 Stylo eyeliner shades* ($60), and the Chanel Chance Hand Cream Trio ($174).
*limited edition shades.
What I got
I only picked up 4 items, 3 from the Les Beiges collection and the Lip and Cheek Balm. I decided to skip the eyeshadow palette because I really have way too many eyeshadow palettes and already have similar shades. I also skipped the primers because I only use primers 40% of the time I wear makeup and I already have at least 3 different primers from Chanel. I also skipped the Rouge Coco Baumes because the shades were very generic and I’m sure I have something that would look 90% similar on my lips. I also skipped the skincare and hand cream because I’m just not into them at the moment.
I’ve bought the Les Beiges Healthy Winter Glow Blush in Corail Givre (11g). “a new exclusive creation, brings a flurry of luminous colour to the complexion, like a cool gust of air that kisses the cheeks. A soft, creamy formula that melts onto the skin. A selection of three fresh, subtly pearlescent shades. An embossed design featuring a crisp snowflake and the emblematic double-C logo.” – Chanel.com. Available in Rose Polaire, Crail Givre, and Mauve Glace.
Le Vernis in 175 Skieuse and 173 Glaciale. “Protective and long-lasting, LE VERNIS by CHANEL is designed to make vibrant colours dazzle, for beautiful nails. A new formula—featuring a higher concentration of pigment and enriched with camellia eco-ceramides, a naturally derived ingredient developed for CHANEL—provides an ultra-shiny, perfectly even lacquered finish with every fine, long-wearing coat.” – Chanel.com.
No1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm in 9 Purple Energy. “The red camellia is a flower unlike any other and the key ingredient in N°1 DE CHANEL. A flower with revitalising powers, whose extraordinary energy gives it perennial youth. Enriched with red camellia oil, the multi-use N°1 DE CHANEL lip and cheek balm offers concentrated hydration and comfort. Its formula contains 86% naturally derived ingredients. Smooth and nourishing, it melts onto the skin, plumps the lips and cheeks, and adds a touch of colour.” – Chanel.com. New shades – 7 Vibrant Coral, 8 Ardent Brick and 9 Purple Energy.
How I find it
In my personal opinion, the blushes are the star of this launch. Even though I already have plenty of blushes, I just cannot resist. The snowflake embossing, the beige compact, throw in the limited edition, it just hits all my weaknesses.
However, if you are not familiar with Chanel’s pigmentation, I would warn you, that it’s not very punchy. You won’t be getting Pat McGrath or Natasha Denona kind of pigmentation. Chanel is a lot more subtle and wearable. You would hardly make a mistake putting these on half-awake. The wash of colour is gentle and buildable.
Coral Guivre has a bright coral with a cool undertone. It has a slight sheen for that subtle glow on the skin without looking shimmery. I like to pick it up with my blush brush because I like to dab on my blush instead of the swiping motion that the half-moon brush would require.
Next up we have the No1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek balm in 9 Purple Energy. I purchased their Lip & Cheek balms previously when they first launched the range. I picked up 3 shades and I reach for 2 Healthy Pink constantly for a dewy blush.
Remember how I mentioned above that Chanel blushes are not very pigmented, but these balms are not just tinted balm, this is pigmented! For deeper, brighter colours, just one dot gives you a lot of colour. I like to either use my fingers to pat and blend, or I use a kabuki brush to stamp it out.
Finally, the two nail polish shades. these were the two items that I was most excited about when I saw the collection. I love soft pink nail polish, but 175 Skieuse looks milky and very cute without looking too girly and bold. It is soft and almost translucent.
The white one, 173 Glaciale was a hit in the dark when I ordered this over the phone without seeing it in real life. Sometimes, some products are difficult to see what they look like online, but this did not disappoint! It is a milky white, not flat and solid, but gel-like and also soft. I love it!
Overall
I love all the items I picked up from this collection and the Lip and Cheek balm, I am contemplating on picking up the Primer as well as another Lip and Cheek balm, but I wanted to try the tested first so I will check at my local Farmers if they will stock it.
I also decided to swatch all the other lip and cheek balms I have and do a quick comparison.
