Where I got it
This is not my first purchase from Victoria Beckham Beauty, they do really good makeup, especially their mascaras. The packaging is sleek, the products are high quality and the shades are sophisticated. The entire branding and vibe of the makeup line fit VB herself. This year it was my first time shopping on her website during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale. I wasn’t considering purchasing BF, but when I got the email for Cyber Monday with 25% off and free shipping, I thought it was the best time to pick up the two items I have been wanting to buy. They are the Bitten Lip tint and the Reflect Highlighter stick. The Bitten Lip Tint in Chérie was $51.75, down from $69, and the Reflect Highlighter Stick in Pearl was $60.75 down from $81.00. There were also fragrance samples – Portofino ’97, Suite 302, and San Ysidro Drive.
What I got
As mentioned above, I picked up the Victoria Beckham Beauty Bitten Lip Tint in Chérie and a Reflect Highlighter Stick in Pearl.
Bitten Lip Tint (5.7ml). For a scintillating flush of color, Bitten Lip Tint provides a transfer-proof application with zero dryness. Weightless Finish: Comfortable, barely-there colour that stays put all day — never sticky, never dry. Plumping Color: Precision application and volume boosting tints for an effortless pout in a single swipe. Kissably Soft: Potent hydrators inside a weightless gelée that leave lips feeling better with every wear. Chérie is a sheer pink rose.
How I find it
I have been wanting to try her Bitten Lip Tint and I picked Cherie which looked like a deep cherry shade on the website but described as a sheer pink rose. The lip tint came in the standard VBB packaging and the tube is also very chic and sleek. It is weighted with a black and tortoise shell look.
The wand is long and slim, the tint is sheer and I would describe it as a dried rose colour. I was half expecting a deeper berry shade, but this is also a lovely colour that I would wear daily. Cherie compliments my natural lip colour very well as it matches very well with my undertone. It is sheer without an obvious coating of colour on the surface. The tint is potent though! I swatched it on my hand as you can see and I wiped it off within a minute and the tint already stained my hand.
Besides the staining abilities of this lip tint, the texture of this is really elegant. It applies like a liquid gel, but it dries down pretty quickly on the lips, especially when you press them together a few times. The liquid base of the tint is gone, leaving the stain on the skin.
Next is the gorgeous Reflect Highlighter Stick in Pearl. The other shade has a slight bronze tone and it is one of VB’s favourites. For packaging here, we have this old Hollywood glam, fluted gold bullet. The highlighter is smooth and glossy, almost like a gloss once applied! It looks amazing on my hand. However, when I applied it to my face, the colour hardly showed and the glossiness was also lacking. Maybe I was too light-handed? I tried running it over a few more times and I could see the shine, but then I needed to blend it out to make it look more natural, but then the glossy look is now faded out as well.
Overall
This little haul has got to be the most underwhelming one of all my other VB hauls. I loved her mascaras, her eye brick and her lip gloss. The Reflect Highlighter looked great in the swatch but hardly showed up on my skin unless I glide past my skin numerous times, but that would move my foundation and just look weird. The champagne shade did not show up on my skin nor did the shimmer and gloss. Once you blend it out with your fingertips, the gloss is greatly reduced. The packaging is beautiful, I have to give her that, but that’s about it. I am a little disappointed.
As for the Bitten Lip Tint, I was expecting a deep berry shade instead of this deep dried rose shade which looks like my own lips but with a purple tinge that kind of made my lips look like I’m constantly freezing. It has pigment and stains well, but it did not work very well with my skin tone.
