Where I got it

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, I’ve been obsessed with K-beauty hydrogel masks lately! The overnight ones in particular. My IG’s explore page is full of glass skin and peeling-off dried hydrogel masks. This is one of the 3 brands I have tried so far – MediAnswer, Biodance and MD AIDA. I order the MediAnswer from Ballagrio.com for USD$22.50 for a box of 5. I did have to pay $19.90 for shipping for orders under USD$100 and it arrived from Korea in around 10 days.

What I got

This is the MediAnswer Vita Collagen Mask (5 pieces).

How I find it

The box contains 5 masks, individually packed, designed to be used about once a week. Each mask is separated into 2 main sections and the eye patches can be used where you want to. The hydrogel mask smells like lemon cheesecake and has a pale yellow colour. It is delicate and soft so if you have long nails or sharp nails, it might rip.

After cleansing, I use a hydrating toner and even an ampoule before I put on this mask. I would start with the two smaller eye patches on either side of my nose (some put this under the eye area), then the bottom part, and finally the upper part. Most of the time, the upper part is the most difficult to adjust. The hydrogel was quite slippery from the amount of serum so it did slip around a little bit. The mask was also too big for my face, especially around the hairline that I needed to cut with scissors.

Once the mask is on for about 5 minutes, it has stopped sliding and started to adhere very well. After the first hour mark, I could see the upper lip and chin area starting to turn transparent. Then the forehead starts to turn transparent as well. My cheeks and where the mask overlaps are still very much the same as it was first applied.

After 3 hours, I decided to remove it. As you can see below, the cheeks area is still opaque, but the nose, forehead, and chin area have turned mostly transparent. The mask was easy to remove from the sides and I could immediately see a brightening effect! I was quite shocked to see my face brighten up, but I also noticed that my skin was not super hydrated and dewy. I did use additional skincare after removal to ensure my skin was hydrated and moisturised.

Overall

Even though this collagen mask did not leave my skin looking dewy and glass-like, it did brighten my skin. I wouldn’t say this needed 3 hours on the skin to see benefits, but if you already have good skin, this sheet mask would do some good for your skin. But if you are suffering multiple skin issues – dryness, dullness, blemishes, etc. this mask will not be a fix-all. I will use up all of the masks, but I may not repurchase this particular one. I prefer the MD AIDA and Biodance mask over MediAnswer to conclude.
