Where I got it
When the PR team from Antipodes sent me an email about a new hydrating serum I got really excited because I love Antipodes serums! They sent me a bottle about 2 weeks before they officially launch so I got to try it out before it is available in public. The serum will RRP $56 and it will be available on their website, Farmers, leading pharmacies and Chemist Warehouse, etc.
What I got
This is the Antipodes Maya Hyaluronic 72-hour Hydration Serum (30ml). Replenish and quench thirsty skin with Antipodes new Maya Hyaluronic 72-Hour Hydration Serum. Showcasing plant-based hyaluronic acid and clinically proven marine botanicals, the formulation meets a global benchmark for sustainability, with natural-origin ingredients and certified organic status. Maya Hyaluronic 72-Hour Hydration Serum contains a potent dose of hyaluronic acid, which can hold up to 1,000 times its
weight in water, to plump the skin, soften fine lines, and revive the complexion.
Hyaluronic acid unites in Maya with the innovative marine compound Pheohydrane – a blend of green algae, marine sugars, and mineral-rich seawater – that offers intense hydration. Pheohydrane has been clinically shown to increase deep skin hydration for up to 72 hours after application*, making the serum a refreshing thirst quencher for dehydrated skin. The nutrient-rich compound is high in amino acids and vitamins B1, B3, C, and E, to help boost skin health and support its natural defenses as it protects against moisture loss. The serum also features bamboo ferment, a natural source of antioxidants, to impart a wide range of regenerative benefits for the skin. Harakeke flax, known as ‘New Zealand’s aloe vera’, teams with cucumber and kangaroo paw flower to deliver soft, supple skin.

How I find it
This hydrating serum has a lightweight and fresh texture which is great for quenching your thirsty skin. It feels especially good and satisfying when applying this over slightly damp skin after cleansing. I love to apply this right after my toner (toner pad or hydrating toners), and before any oil-based serums. The fresh, cucumber-like scent also adds to that wonderful sensorial experience!
The serum does leave a light layer on the skin that is non-greasy, non-sticky, but you know it’s there because when you next wash your face, you can feel that slippery texture on the skin like you’ve put aloe vera on top and just washing it off. It’s not something that would fight with my other skincare or makeup so it’s not a big bother.
Overall
I love this serum, I can use this twice a day on a daily basis without any heaviness on my skin. It keeps my skin hydrated for hours and overnight my skin feels plump, comfortable and hydrated. I also like to use this before a sheet mask to enhance absorption. The only thing to be cautious is do not use this over oil-based serum because it will rub and pill.
