Where I got it
The Nuit Blanche lipstick collection launched with the Spring 2024 makeup collection on 1st March worldwide. Chanel launches in New Zealand are generally slower than the rest of the world, but this time we are at the same starting line. Even for Chanel counters at Farmers (New Zealand Department store), at my local Farmers, they did not receive all 8 shades for sale and as testers. They have testers for stock that they did not have, they have stock without the corresponding testers, and it’s all over the place.
However, I did already search online to see the kind of shades there is to offer in this collection and the only shades that called to me were 00:00 and 07:00, the shades in between were either too deep or with an undertone that did not work for my skin tone. I would consider 01:00 or 06:00, but the prices are also a factor because they are $82 each while the permanent range of RLV is $79 and my favourite Rouge Coco Baume is $69.
What I got
I picked up only one shade from the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Nuit Blanche collection, and it is 07:00. “8 lip colours one for each hour of the night. The collection showcases the vibrant energy of a luminous matte lipstick, offering eight different possibilities. These all-new, limited-edition shades are presented in a minimalistic new case, in white with black trim.” – Chanel.com
The following shades are available (limited edition):
- 00:00 – Sienna Red. The first stop of the evening. Margot Robbie is wearing the shade 00:00, a luminous matte red, promising a whirlwind of a night.
- 01:00 – Brick Orange.
- 02:00 – Orange Red. Margot Robbie takes the stage, lighting up her lips with a vibrant, saturated shade. An orange-red that casts an incandescent glow.
- 03:00 – Vibrant Fuchsia
- 04:00 – Warm Brown. The party is in full swing. Margot Robbie is wearing a still-warm shade of brown, halfway between tonight and tomorrow.
- 05:00 – Purple.
- 06:00 – Burnished Rosewood.
- 07:00 – Fresh Pink. A lull. It is the dawn of a new day. The final lipstick in the ROUGE ALLURE VELVET NUIT BLANCHE collection is a fresh pink, soft like the early hours of the morning.
How I find it
The Rouge Allure Velvet formula is said to have a creamy texture with a velvet finish. I agree with the creamy texture, and the finish is demi-matte, it would need relatively healthy lips to avoid looking patchy and dry. If your lips are flakey, they will show up and it is not a very forgiving formula. Shade 07:00 is the lightest in the collection and from the swatches I have made in Farmers, I noticed this shade is slightly more sheer and needs building up.
The formula is not very long-wearing, but it doesn’t bleed. It just rubs off when you eat and drink so it is a lipstick that you would need to reapply during the day. The pigmentation is beautiful, buildable sheer for a wash of colour instead of a block of pigment sitting on top of my lips.
Overall
If you are a Chanel collector, you need one of these cases because it is so iconic with the white case and black borders just like a Chanel beauty box. The click-pop-out mechanism gives it a chic touch. The formula isn’t my favourite from Chanel because I usually prefer a moisturising formula with a satin or glossy finish. My favourite Chanel formula is the Rough Coco Baume and the Rouge Coco Flash. If I want higher pigmentation, I would reach for the Rouge Allure Laque or the Rouge Allure Ink.
