YSL Loveshine Lipstick

Where I got it

YSL does amazing lipsticks and there is no doubts about it. This year, they have launched the Loveshine lipstick. I believe Mecca was the first place to stock it in New Zealand, it was only about a week after I’ve bought this, I start to see if at Farmers.co.nz. Therefore I picked up one shade from Mecca for $68. I see that this is now available at Farmers for $77. Not sure why the $9 difference??

I actually went to my local Farmers to check out the new shades and I saw that shade 200 and 202 as well as shade 45 also looked very beautiful, but they looked quite pale in the bullet. However, the formula is similar to a lip balm so the shade is quite sheer instead of opaque. Therefore the pale shades will give you a light was of colour instead of looking like you applied concealer on your lips.

How I find it

I have been in love with glossy lip balms recently. I love the effortless application, the dewy finish, the nourishing texture and how it is wearable on a daily basis. I have compared this with the YSL Candy Glaze which I thought were going ot be very similar. More on that below.

The Loveshine lipsticks comes in the iconic YSL lipstick bullet with a baby pink ring. The lipstick has a moisturising formula with a beautiful dewy finish. It gives light to medium coverage of colour with a sweet candy scent, similar to the Candy Glaze. Number 208 Raspberry Shine is a bright raspberry red.

I did a comparison swatch with my YSL Candy Glaze shades. As you can see, the same silver bullet, Candy Glaze has a bright pink ring and the new Loveshine has a baby pink ring.

YSL Loveshine Lipstick and Candy Glaze

You can clearly see that Candy Glaze is much more pigmented and glossy in finish. The Candy Glaze formula is a lot malliable than Loveshine so you are only to twist up the lipstick by 1-2mm for each use otherwise you will ruin the soft lipstick. The Loveshine felt more like a lip balm with good pigmentation.

Overall

If you love a nice wash of colour with the feel and moisturisation of a lip balm, I would say Loveshine is a great choice. The pigmentation is just right for day ot day wear (depending on the colour you choose of course), the glossiness is just right that does not look like you applied a lip gloss. If you want a punch of colour and ultra glossiness, Candy Glaze is the one to go for. Both are very moisturising, but are not very long-lasting. The deeper shade may stain more than lighter shades, but generally they do wipe off or rub off. Overall, the Loveshine is very enjoyable to use and I might get either 200, 202 or 45 in the near future.
