Le Edit Cashmere Cardigan

Where I got it

For the last year, I have been into investing into quality pieces of clothing so I have been slowly collecting silk and cashmere pieces. Cashmere pieces are not cheap, but they are so lightweight, so soft and so warm. I had to save up on my fashion budget to slowly add to my collection. This is my first cashmere cardigan and my next piece would be a sweater or even another cardigan in a different colour because I wear cardigan quite a lot.

I stumbled upon Le Edit on either a Facebook ad or an Instagram ad.  Le Edit is a home-based lifestyle brand in New Zealand. Founded by a mother who focuses on natural and sustainable fibres, and a believer on slow fashion. How nice! I love supporting local companies. She also has men’s wear and children’s clothing as well as swim wear and skincare You can follow the brand on IG – Le.edit

It was exactly this cardigan and it is what I was looking for. I recently lost a black cardigan in Japan (only something from Kmart that was around $20), and I went to Zara and bought two new cardigan (black and marle shades that were only around $30). Quality was quite good, but I ultimately wanted a cashmere cardigan as an investment. I decided to try this in the coconut shade, which is a cream colour, and the lightest shade available. It was AUD$226 which is NZD$289.

What I got

This is the Le Edit Cashmere Cardigan in Coconut (S). Composed of 100% Pure Cashmere, this luxury item will be one of the hardest working in your Capsule Wardrobe.  Featuring delicate shell buttons and a classic crew neck in a relaxed fit.  Style this like a jumper with the buttons done up or open to contrast another colour beneath.

Cashmere is up to 8 x warmer than wool and softer too.  It has a higher loft – the structural ratio of fibre to air and is better for sensitive skin, thanks to it’s extremely fine & soft fibres

Cashmere is also hygroscopic, meaning it will keep you warm in Winter and cool in Summer.  This is because the unique structure of cashmere fibres allows them to wick moisture away, transferring sweat to the outer surface of the garment where it can evaporate.  This allows your skin to breathe, unlike other options out there that are often blended with polyester.

Small: Chest – 50cm, Length – 59cm, Sleeve – 57cm, Shoulder – 39cm

How I find it

The cardigan came in perfect condition and it was super soft and smooth on the skin. The cream colour is just perfect and so versatile, I love it. This cardigan comes in 3 sizes – small, medium and large. It also comes in 5 colour ways – coconut (cream), beige, marle, black and dangerous (bright red). I love the simple design of this cardigan it is not large and baggy, and it’s not cropped. It sits just around the hip area. I love the length of the piece.

The silvery white shell buttons are a nice touch to the cream shade. It is easy to do up and down the buttons without tugging the fabric. It has a modest round neckline to show off your necklace and looks great buttoned up or buttoned down.

It is a relaxed fit so it is very easy to wear on top of tank tops, short sleeves on thin layers underneath. It is great to pair with other fabrics – denim, linen, silk, cashmere. Looks effortlessly chic with jeans, with a skirt or over a sun-dress. It looks great being draped over the shoulders as well like an accessory. Cardigans are such a versatile piece, it is a no-brainer if you want to invest in your first piece of cashmere.

Overall

I am loving this cardigan! It feels and looks luxurious and the material is thick but not chunky. Everything down to the stitchings are perfect. It gives the perfect warmth to the spring weather we are approaching now and it is perfect over a t-shirt, a silk shirt, or over a dress. I would love to get more colours of this cardigan in the future – maybe a black one because it is just so versatile. I have been using a cashmere deodorant spray after each time of wearing it. I also hang it up to air out any smells. Cashmere pieces can be steamed with a steam iron to reduce any creases and just to lightly disinfect.

For heavier piece, I like to fold and lay flat, for the lighter pieces like this cardigan I could put it on a hanger in my closet. If I am worried about something else snagging it, I could put it in a garmet cover to protect it. 100% recommend.
