Early September 2024, we see the new Chanel Beauty Fall-Winter 2024 collection – Clairvoyance. This is from Chanel.com:
In her 31 rue Cambon apartment, Gabrielle Chanel surrounded herself with talismans that guided the one true master of her creations: her intuition. Cécile Paravina, a member of the COMÈTES COLLECTIVE, drew inspiration from Mademoiselle’s fascination with the art of divination for her first makeup collection. Striking a harmony between deep shades and hints of light, CLAIRVOYANCE can be used to create mysterious, nuanced looks for the Fall-Winter 2024 season that are equal parts versatile and captivating.
The collection includes 2 blushes, 2 nail polishes, 2 eyeshadow quads, a mascara and 15 shades of liquid lipsticks.
The blushes: Les Tarots de Chanel (limited edition) – Two mysterious, limited-edition shades, which are inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s penchant for the art of divination: one blood orange hue with hypnotic accents, and one magical, mystical shade of lavender. The soft, sensorial powder texture of this creation offers a velvety matte finish that accentuates the cheekbones and adds colour to the face, for captivating, enigmatic looks. The powder is embossed with a deck of tarot cards, on which the number 5—Mademoiselle’s lucky number—and the emblematic double C monogram appear.
I tested the colours in store and I was not impressed. I have been loving lavender blushes or highlighters, and I was quite excited to try this out. However, the formula makes this lavender shade kind of chalky and leaves this white-ish look on the skin. The blood orange appears quite nice, but I am not a big fan of orange blushes. I am also not a fan of the tarot card embossing so it’s a pass for me.
Le Vernis – 187 Spirituelle and 189 Phenomene. 187 is a orange-brick colour and 189 is a metallatic grey with a purple and green shift. Both of these colours are not my cup of tea and honestly, I would never use these colours on my nails. Hard pass for me.
Rouge Allure Liquid Velvet – The liquid velvets are matte liquid lip colours and the colour theme for this collection are warms reds, browish reds and a handful of really bold shades. Right off the bat, I am drawn to the lightest two shades – 202 and 204. I went for the 202 which is described as a peachy pink beige. I would have went for 204 (salmon pink) if I do not have something similar already. Most of the red shades are bright, bold and deep so they are not my usual go-to lip colour.
The ones that really stand out (not really in a good way) were shades like 208, 212, 234, amd 236. I have no idea why Chanel has ventured into such weird colours like the deep brown and the purple. This collection is really unflattering to most people I would say. I just don’t get it.
Other than the weird colours for this launch, shade 202 Secrete is actually very pretty and very volumizing on the lips. The matte formula is a little on the drying side, but it lasts. All you need is well exfoliated lips without cracks and peeling skin.
I have not taken any photos of the eyeshadow quads or the mascara because I have no interest in them whatsoever. I will grab some photos online. 394 Divination colour theme features all matte shades – bluish lavender, purple, matcha green and a camel shade. 392 Initiation also features all matte shades – soft peach, caramel brown, deep brown and a coral pink.
