How I find it
House of Hur Purifying Cleansing Balm. This is an all-in-one cleansing balm with strawberry extract, cherry fruit extract and vitamin tree fruit extract to control sebum production and maintain the water-oil balance of the skin. What makes this cleansing balm interesting is the grinder dispenser where you twist to grind a thin layer of cleansing balm and you just wipe your fingers over the top to pick up the balm. It is supposed to make it a hygienic, and not over-use product. As for the product itself, it melts on the skin easily to melt down make-up, even waterproof mascara. It emulsifies nicely and turns milky and rinses off cleanly. No greasy residue.
Beauty of Joseon Glow Replenishing Rice Milk. This rice milk contains nutrient-rich rice extract and rice amino acids to hydrate and smooth dry, rough skin. The dual-layer formula – a moisture layer filled with rice extract for hydration and a powder layer to control sebum is great for combination skin types. The toner has a watery texture, no thickness at all and the powder layer is hardly detectable on the skin so it’s not like it leaves a layer of powder on top. Skin is hydrated but not left with a dewy finish. This is great for all skin types and I think even my husband would love to use it.
Mixsoon Soondy Centella Asiatica Essence. This is a 100% core ingredient essence, meaning it contains 100% Centella Asiatica extract. This can be used to create your DIY face mask, you can mix it into other skincare products, use it on its own or put it into a spray to create an on-the-go facial mist. Centella Asiatica, cica for short, is a highly soothing and skin-calming ingredient. It is one of the main ingredients in most K-beauty skincare, it’s basically in every single product.
This is the first time I have come across a 100% cica extract so I did not know what I was expecting. I was half expecting that it would be quite thick or smell really strong, but the light herbal scent is really light and pleasant. The texture is watery and not thick at all. It is undetectable on the skin and sinks in immediately.
VT Cosmetics Collagen Reedle Shot 100. Reedle shot technology with 500Da collagen extract. It has all the goodness of the cica micro-needles and centella asiatica extract, 3 types of hyaluronic acid and propolis extract of the Reedle Shot combined with low molecular weight collagen to improve firmness and elasticity to dry and sagging skin.
Now I am not a believer that topical-applied collagen would do anything to increase the production of collagen, so after trying the VT Reedle Shot Variety set I have decided this was one of the reedle shots that I would not purchase full size. However, this came in the box so I will use it anyway. Just to clarify, it is not a bad product, it still provides good hydration and soothing properties of cica and it also works as the OG reedle shot so it enhances penetration of subsequent serums and products, but I just would not go out of my way to purchase this collagen version because I believe my other products are better at promoting collagen production, etc.
Axis-Y Vegan Collagen Eye Serum. This serum addresses fine lines, puffiness and dark circles with its exceptionally nourishing and highly absorbent formula. Vegan collagen, a 5-peptide complex, improves skin elasticity. Triple hyaluronic acid, sunflower seed oil and jojoba seed oil to moisturise dry skin, Infused with three vitamin C-rich fruit extracts to improve uneven skin tone around the eye area.
I try to use an eye cream or eye serum as often as possible because I need something lifting around the area. This serum is lightweight and the steel roller ball makes it really nice to roll around the skin. Cooling and hydrating.
Dr Althea 345 Relief Cream. Lightweight gel-cream ointment to address blemishes, nourish the skin and provide soothing care. The name of this cream 3-4-5 corresponds to 3 ingredients for blemish care – niacinamide, hibiscus sabdariffa flower extract and resveratrol. 4 ingredients for nourishing care – beta-glucan, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, Oenothera biennis flower extract and coralline officinalis extract. 5 ingredients for soothing care – centella asiatica leaf extract, gardenia florida fruit extract, houttuynia cordata extract, lavender flower extract and ceramide NP.
This relief cream has a gel-cream texture and feels hydrating on the skin. It provides lightweight moisture and is non-scented and non-sticky on the skin. I would say this is great for combination to oily skin. But if you are combination dry or dehydrated, you would need something else on top.
Biodance Hydro Cera-nol Real Deep Mask. Packed with 50,000 PPM of high-purity glacier water, it provides a moisturising film that wraps around the skin for a hydrating effect. D-Panthenol, oligo hyaluronic acid and 5-layer ceramide to provide a quick soothing effect.
I have used the Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask which is the original one in the pink packaging. My conclusion of that mask was that it did not really give me glass skin as you see on social media. I have combination skin, a little dehydrated sometimes, and I think that might be the case? Maybe it works better for people who already have amazing skin? I’ve tried leaving it on for an hour, overnight, or applying thick creams underneath. The longer I leave the mask on, the more dehydrated my skin feels. This Hydro Cera-nol is soothing, so I can see that my skin is soothed, but that’s about it. Not particularly hydrated or moisturised.
Mary & May Calendula Peptide Ageless Sleeping Mask. Contains 25 peptides for anti-aging care. Designed for busy individuals, this mask is quickly absorbed before bedtime but provides significant improvements to the skin overnight. Enriched with carrot root extract and flower extract, packed with carotenoids, flavonoids and lutein to brighten and deeply hydrate your skin.
This gel-mask reminds me of the Summer Fridays R+R Mask but without the gritty stuff. The clear gel with flower petals makes this mask so pretty to look at. The gel base is quite rich, not a fresh, lightweight gel I was expecting. I was a little worried that it would be sticky and hard to sink in for a sleeping mask. Personally, I would not use a moisturiser under this and not over-apply because it does take a while to sink in, but it does eventually sink in. I have not been able to see any significant results because I have not been using this on a regular basis and I am not a big fan of overnight masks.
Benton Black Eyelash Serum. This is a lash serum with a black tint. This is not an eyelash serum you would use at bedtime because the tint will rub off on your pillows. This is something that could replace your mascara or be a base for your mascara. The formula is more of a tint instead of a thickening or lengthening mascara. The subtle formula deepens the colour of your lashes and kind of gels a couple of lashes together to create that flower-petal-like look. It is not waterproof so it is easy to remove, and does not crumble, but it can melt.
Overall
I have been really satisfied with the two StyleKorean boxes I have bought lately. The value of these boxes is absolutely amazing, especially if you have already been wanting to try 1-or 2 of the products in the box. I have been wanting to try the BOJ rice milk toner, the Mixsoon Centella Asiatica essence, the 345 Relief Cream as well as the Biodance Cera-nol mask. I got to try 4 products I was going to buy for the price of 2 of the products and I also got to try other products I had never heard of.
I cannot wait to see what’s in the next box, but in the meantime, I need to use all these new products diligently because I have been hoarding quite a bit of new products!
